Let's see Obama's checklist for cabinet positions. "Liberal as a loon." Check. "Supports radical socialist agenda." Check. "Believes New Deal didn't go nearly far enough." Check. "Wants to surrender to terrorists." Check. "Cheated on taxes." Check.
There is little question that Timothy Geithner - our newly confirmed Treasury Secretary and IRS chief - knows more about evading taxes than enforcing tax law. It is amazing that we are putting a man in charge of our economy who apparently can't even figure out how to use Turbo Tax.
Add Tom Daschle to Obama's tax cheating cabinet officers.
WASHINGTON – Former Sen. Tom Daschle, picked by President Barack Obama to lead his health reform efforts, recently filed amended tax returns to report $128,203 in back taxes and $11,964 in interest, according to a Senate document obtained by The Associated Press.What's that saying: "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me"?The White House acknowledged Friday that "some tax issues" had emerged in connection with the nomination, but a spokesman said the president is confident the former Senate Democratic leader will be confirmed as the new health secretary.
Daschle filed amended tax returns for 2005, 2006 and 2007 to reflect additional income for consulting work, the use of a car service and reduced deductions for charitable contributions. He filed the returns after Obama announced he intended to nominate Daschle to head the Health and Human Services Department.
Shame on all of us for voting for these people to ruin our country.
As with the case of Geithner, it took Daschle several years for it to occur to him that he might not be paying his taxes. And it's just a coincidence that this realization occured only immediately after being nominated. Kind of like the only time I mind walking around in my underwear is when the neighbor sees me while I'm getting the paper - only with taxes.
Of course, there's also Bill Richardson, who was Obama's pick for Commerce Secretary before it was revealed that he likes to play the same "pay for play" game that got Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich (whom Obama TWICE endorsed) got impeached for playing.
We've got Obama's choice for Attorney General, Eric Holder, who arranged the pardon of fugitive slimebag Marc Rich in exchange for a juicy contribution to his boss; who arranged the pardons of terrorists; who (along with our new Director of Central Intelligence Leon Panetta) in 1995 helped erect the information wall between the CIA and FBI that led to the communication failure that caused 9/11. Holder isn't considered a criminal, but he ought to be.
Holder will be a good company man, who will dependably do the President's dirty work, protect crooks, and dismantle our intelligence system. He's already done it before.
In any event, with Obama and his ship of fools, frauds and felons, what do you expect of his "American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan" that features hundreds of millions of dollars in outright pork and $5.2 billion in fraud just to Obama-voter-fraud group ACORN.
Looking at the Obama bailout deal that is far more geared toward rewarding political patronage than it is toward stimulating anything but waste and fraud, you can see why Obama wants liars and cheats around him. Honest people wouldn't stand for it.

If we live through the next 4 years under Obama we wil end up broke and in debt for the next two generations.
It appears that the Fraternity that is Congress doesn’t care a whit that some of their Democrat brethren are tax cheats and thieves. I suppose if the murder of Mary Jo Kopechne could be overlooked most anything else is a piece of cake.
Obama’s covert mission to destroy this counrty is starting to become more and more visible.
His Freudian slip the other day “now is not the time for profits” may have been in context of a few greedy crooks on Wall St., but that is his general persuasion.
If Obama really wanted the country to rebound and prosper there are easy mechanisms at his disposal to achieve this. Cut marginal rates and immediately decrease withholdings. Give dedcutions to home owners for capital improvements. This will put the small contractor back to work which will kick start everything. Very simple. Anyone who thinks that there are shovel ready projects that the government can run should just look at the fiasco at ground zero. Goingn on 8 years later still no building.
Isn’t this amazing? These liberals always want to impose taxes on Americans whenever they get a chance. They just don’t want to pay their fair share.
This is the third high profile case - Geitner and Rangel being the others.

And we can clearly add in Jefferson, who presumably did not plan on paying taxes for the $90,000 in bribe money he kept in his freezer.

You have an excellent point. There are “two faces” to Obama. The media lets him wear both without pointing out his hypocrisy. Obama has a tendency to say things that could be interpreted as representing all positions, so he can always pull a “As I’ve said before” out of his hat to any audience on any issue.
But deep down, he is a socialist redistributionist. And we are going to pay for our election of this man as our president.
Btw, your remedies are also quite good. Obama could have nipped a lot of this economic meltdown in the bud by announcing he would have a pro-business, pro-investor mindset in his administration. But he just doesn’t have it in him. Rather, he’ll say whatever, while continuing his efforts to lead this country to the promised land - which for him is France under Jacques Chirac.
That did it for me. From now on Daschle Dashole.

It boils down to “I’m really just too stupid to be held responsible for this matter,” or, “I’m dishonest.”
“Stupid” was Geithner’s defense as well. We clearly live in a time when it’s okay to be stupid and be a government bureaucrat making decisions that affect hundreds of millions of people.
