This woman is NRA endorsed, anti-pork barrel/earmarks and has a few other things to commend her. I suspect she’s rapidly pro-abortion, but of the choices she’s far and away the best.

I’m sure NY will send another flaming liberal like Schumer to the Senate in 2010.

Yeah, let’s all jump for joy because of a phony bruhahaha ginned up by a bunch of libs on both sides. Gillibrand is a NYC liberal and any gestures made towards conservatism were made purely for political expedience.

As an outsider looking in, I would assume this is smart move on Patterson’s part as he looks towards running for a full term as Governor. Wouldn’t his main opposition come from upstate?

“Conservative Dem” in NY??

Isn't that an oxymoron? Kinda like Government ethics?

Sh may well be a few centillas less further left than the worst of them.
But I believce NARAL gave her a grade of 100. She's not a conservative. She may score a little better by NRA...but I would like to see what GOA and JPFO say about her anyway...and my guess is that those two will nothave much good at all to say about her as regards RKBA.

There is no way she is a conservative. Maybe fiscally we can hope, but anyone recommended by Chuckie is not a conservative. Those howling liberals must not have been at the briefing where Chuckie described why she was a good pick.

Surprising pretty much everyone, NY Governor David Patterson is expected to announce today that he has selected upstate conservative Democrat Kirsten Gillibrand to fill the seat vacated by new Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, infuriating the Dems who had been aggressively lobbying behind the scenes for the patronage peach. She is no conservative Democrat. I don't know where that crap is coming from. She has a lifetime ACU rating of 8, National Right-to-Life Committee rating of 0, NARAL rating of 100, and voted with Grammy Nancy over 90% of the time in the last Congress. Even here in the PRNY, that's not a conservative Democrat.
