Apostle Rick Evangelizes the Democrats

Mike Gallagher, God bless him, says something in a promo for his show that I profoundly disagree with.

In an ideological double-reverse back flip, he joins the liberal howls of protest at Pastor Rick Warren's giving the invocation at President Obama's inauguration. His point seems to be that Pastor Warren is besmirching Christianity by giving aid and comfort to the pro-abortion enemy.

The Apostle Paul preached to the Athenians, and Pastor Rick will preach to the Democrats. When Mike asks "Why would Rick Warren participate in this inauguration?" I couldn't help but recall Matthew 9:11, when the Pharisees asked the disciples why Jesus ate with tax collectors and sinners. In the next verse, Our Lord answers for himself: "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick."

Pastor Rick Warren is following The Savior's entreaty to go and spread The Gospel wherever he can. Catholic religious have been doing this since the founding of the church. You can find them spreading the good news and making trouble all over the earth and all across the political spectrum, and all in the service of Jesus.

Conservatives and the GOP can learn a lesson from Pastor Rick and all others who evangelize outside their comfort zone. It's how you gain converts, whether your purpose is religious or ideological. I hate to use this example, but Howard Dean brought success to the Democratic party by doing the same. Liberals roundly criticized him when he embarked upon his 50 state strategy, but he stuck to it and, unfortunately for conservatives, it bore fruit.

This just illustrates what my friend's now-departed Dad, the Reverend Don, used to tell us kids. He would solemnly intone with complete conviction that there is no problem on earth that cannot be solved by consulting The Bible. This good man was right. Jesus shows us how to win friends and influence people in a completely unselfish way.

Preaching to the converted is fun, and even necessary, but the real challenge, and the greatest reward, is to sow and harvest among the dubious and hostile.

If Rick actually preaches the gospel, then I’d believe what the author is saying.

Most likely, Rick won’t. it’ll end up being more middle-of-the-road, luke-warm happy-clappy nonsense with very little truth.

Now if Piper, Washer or MacArthur were delivering the prayer, then that would be something to watch.

Yeah. Doing a little research into the Purpose Driven drivel made me realize just how UN-biblical his books really are. Not a fan of Warren.

Pastor Rick Warren is following The (false)Savior's entreaty to go and spread The (false)Gospel wherever he can.

There. Fixed it.

I am guessing that the potential for assuming the vacant seat of Billy Graham (friend and golf-partner to Presidents) is just too tempting.

The False Prophet...or should that be spelled Profit...giving the invocation for the Anti-Christ. Wonderful. Beam me up, Lord.

I saw part of an interview Warren gave while promoting his new Christmas book. I may be paraphrasing but he said something along the line of “The reason Jesus was born (came to earth) was to show us who he is”. I nearly fell off my chair.

As if the Lord is some desperate co-dependant who is needy for attention. That kind of thinking is blasphemous and man-centered.

No Rick, he came to seek and save the lost. Save us from our putrid dirty sins and sinful nature...He also rebuked wickedness and told people to repent.

But that doesn't sell books in a sin loving culture.

Oh brother, I’m not surprised at all.

I remember recently, when talking about his inauguration ‘prayer’ he said “You don’t have to see eye to eye to walk hand in hand,”.

He apparently forgot “Can two walk together, UNLESS they be agreed?”

I believe that his watered-down gospel heresy has sent more people to hell than any whorehouse and tavern in this country.

Huggy Bear loves those kinds of comments. They’re so warm and wishy washy. Uggggggggh!

Off topic: Your tag reminds me of one of my favorite scriptures. Daniel 11:32 (Referring to Antiochus Epiphanes, a prefigure of the Antichrist)-

“With flattery he will corrupt those who have violated the covenant, but the people who know their God will firmly resist him.” (NIV)

It’s a good message for us in these times. We must draw ever closer to the Lord, we KNOW Him!

Amen and Amen!

The coming hard, lean times will not only draw God’s people closer to Him; but it’ll also purge the church of the tares.

The remnant will be strengthed, but suffering. The goats will be happy, but lost for eternity.
