My nephew, Chris, has been battling Crone's Disease for a couple of years, but sadly no drugs or diet regimes he's pursued have worked satisfactorily.
It's so hard to believe that someone so young (38) is facing the rest of his life with this situation, but the team at Johns Hopkins concluded that colostomy surgery is the only safe and prudent option, given the damage he's sustained internally, to preclude the more devastating prospects of cancers, etc. in the future.
Asking for your prayers for Chris, his wife and families through this challenging surgery, recovery and rehab and into what I pray will be a manageable and harmonious life for him and his family, and restored health going forward.
Thankfully, he seems to have found acceptance. He hasn't been able to work or really do anything for almost a year, just chained to the house, so he wants his life back. His docs have told him that, with solid recovery, he'll be able to resume all his normal life and athletic activities.
God bless and protect Chris with a successful surgery early in the am and strong recovery. God bless him with skilled doctors and health care professionals. Maybe future medical innovations may provide a different option in time. I pray His angels are near.
Thank you so very much.

Praying.
Thank you all so very much for your kindness and prayers.
May the Heart of Jesus smile on Chris tomorrow with His healing mercy, and all the coming days.
Thank you so much.
And thank you for correcting my spelling = Crohn’s .. ;)
I wasn’t correcting your spelling as much as correcting my own, I probably spelled it 3 different ways before looking it up. : )
;) .. you’re STILL sweet and still appreciated .. ^@^
Update on Chris ... surgery day.
It was a 7-hour surgery. Can’t imagine how grueling and and delicate it was .. so long. The surgical team was kind .. they updated his wife every 2 hours.
That had to be nervewracking .. sitting there being so
worried, and she was alone, as it was so far away from family.
He’s in a lot of pain, understandably, and on a morphine drip and oxygen, but now out of the ICU and in his room for the night.
He was in and out dozing, but was coherent when semi-awake
this evening with his wife.
Praise God and with the wondrous power of all our prayers, the docs are saying it went well ... they expect he’ll be
there a week.
Praying that he has a strong constitution and that his body can steadily heal and recover from this trauma, and that he can live a fairly normal, well adjusted life.
Thank you all again SO very much for your prayers. They are a power beyond our grasp. Please, when you can, offer prayers for Chris that all his body needs to fight infection or complications will be provided to him, and that his pain and discomfort will lessen soon.
Dear Lord, thank you for the progress and prognosis today. Please extend Your Almighty grace and mercy to Chris and his family for the challenges ahead, and bring him to new life and vitality. Amen.
Thank God he made it through surgery. Another prayer coming from this way.
Saying prayers for Chris.
Amen and Amen, Starwise, and Thank you for the Ping and the Update; I had been Thinking of Chris, Hoping he was Doing Well. I'm about to Get on my Knees and Lift Bedtime Prayers for him, and to Thank our Savior for His Mercies and His Love. May Chris be Strengthened, and his Discomfort Eased, and his Recovery be Uneventful, Quick, and Complete.
Thank you for the update. Prayers will continue for Chris and his loved ones.
Prayers continue.
God be with Chris and your family.
My 20 tr old niece just had this done.Amazing stuff these surgeons can do. They reconstructed her whole colon. It was a year before she could get rid of the bag but she is healthier and happier than ever. We just had her over this weekend and she ate almost everything we served. He’s going to be fine. 1 yr from now he’ll be smiling...send him my freeper best and tell him all is fine!
Ditto that.
Hope he is home and up and around for Christmas.

Update on Chris

Thankfully, Chris has been home for almost a week, and the docs are very pleased with the results of the surgery, praise God.
He feels stronger every day .. tries to increase his walking time each day to build up his endurance.
He has a home health care nurse coming twice a week to change his dressing and help him with his new routine for now.
He’ll be going to a local gastro doc to have the stitches removed from surgery this week, and then will go back to Johns Hopkins for a followup by his surgeon in a few weeks.
It’s just a blessing that, after such a long and severe surgery, he’s doing so well.
He’s not able to travel for awhile, so he won’t be able to be with the family for Christmas, but he feels like he’s got a new lease on life. I know he’s very grateful.
He is, of course, on a very regimented eating program of a relatively bland diet, and I know he’ll now do all he can to maintain this new life he’s been given.
Praise God for His mercy.
God bless you and thank you so much for all your prayers. I just know they had a powerful effect as I think his healing so well so quickly is quite remarkable.
Wishing a Joyous Christmas and blessed New Year to you all.
Thank you for the update. I am so pleased to hear how well he is doing....he will only continue to prove....
I hope you and yours have a blessed and Merry Christmas
I am so glad to hear this. Prayers still being said for him.
