VANITY- WORST CHRISTMAS GIFT YOU EVER RECEIVED
12/7/08 | A REAL SHEILA

I saw a blog several years ago asking folks to write about the worst Christmas gift they ever received. It is one of the funniest things I've ever read. Knowing the sense of humor most freepers have, I would like to hear your answers and stories.

My brother and I have a tradition like yours. It’s a fruitcake that we’ve been giving each other for about 20 years, always wrapped up in new and unique ways. He posted himself on youtube last year opening it up. It was encased in concrete.

I get it back this year.

Norm MacDonald did a great stand up bit on that. Not only are lottery tickets a horrible gift, but you certainly don’t want them to win. Imagine the conversation: “What’s that? You hit for a million? Greeaaat! Yeah, I still got the coffee mug you gave me. Say, any chance it will increase in value a few hundred thousand times in the near future?”

When I was 15 my friends and I went to the mall around Christmas to hang out. One of my friends decided to buy his mother’s gift in front of us. 15 year boys aren’t the best shoppers in the world. He bought his mother a candle shaped like a seal. It was over a foot long,it was light blue and white kind of like a marble and the wick was in the seal’s back.We laughed all the way home on the bus.25 years later we still laugh about it. God bless my friends mother. She put it on the TV proudly for at least a year.

Wife caught me buying her Christmas gift of 2006. It was a 12 gauge shotgun.

Think I’ll get her a couple more boxes of shotgun shells this year.

Either that or tire chains for our van.

“Am I the only person that actually likes fruit cake?”

I like them ok. The thing is they are so sweet a little goes a long way. A tiny slice Christmas morning and I am good for another year. Even my dad who likes them a lot can't make an appreciable dent in one before it dries out and gets stale.

And so Virginia, passive aggressive people really do exist - and they spread misery where ever they go... sometimes that includes Christmas presents.
That's exactly what I said, Shirley.

We do. It’s a hand towel with a picture of Santa and the reindeer flying over an outhouse, and Santa’s saying, “No, no, I said the SCHMIDT house!”

It circulates around our family. I have it at present.

I used to like the Collins Street Bakery fruit cakes. That what we would get in Texas growing up.

I haven’t had it for years because I can’t find it sold around here.

can you just imagine how PI$$ED off you’d be if you gave a lottery ticket to someone and they won something like $250,000?!!! I would just be UNABLE to ever be around that person ever again!

I actually know someone who won $500K after a coworker picked up some scratch off tickets for her and several coworkers (which they paid for). THere was no agreement among them beforehand to share any winnings. I can only imagine what kind of fighting and possible lawsuits are in the works NOW though since she works with several “Obama voters.”

Good grief, we got that, too. Is it various shades of blue? When we turned it on, the black stuff holding the pieces of glass together started to melt.
