Obama Derangement Syndrome ... Conservatives Need to Shut Up About the Birth Certificate
HNN ^ | December 6, 2008 | David Horowitz

Posted on 12/07/2008 1:48:09 AM PST by malkee

The continuing efforts of a fringe group of conservatives to deny Obama his victory and to lay the basis for the claim that he is not a legitimate president is embarrassing and destructive. The fact that these efforts are being led by Alan Keyes, an unhinged demagogue on the political fringe who lost a senate election to the then unknown Obama by 42 points should be a warning in itself.

This tempest over whether Obama, the child of an American citizen, was born on American soil is tantamount to the Democrats' seditious claim that Bush "stole" the election in Florida and hence was not the legitimate president. This delusion helped to create the Democrats' Bush derangement syndrome and encouraged Democratic leaders to lie about the origins of the Iraq War, and regard it as illegitimate as Bush himself. It became "Bush's War" rather than an American War with destructive consequences for our troops and our cause.

The Birth Certificate zealots are essentially arguing that 64 million voters should be disenfranchised because of a contested technicality as to whether Obama was born on U.S. soil. (McCain narrowly escaped the problem by being born in the Panama Canal zone, which is no longer American.)

Hannity the media star has a history of playing this political game only up to the point at which his career might suffer. He is scared ****less at the thought of the Fairness Doctrine coming back to life.

The “Fairness Doctrine” could put Michelle on the unemployment line if she doesn’t watch her step and she [and every other talking head in the MSM] knows it.

I would like to believe that isn't the reason. Fox News and their grovelling act suggests however that it is entirely possible. Would they really buckle under so readily? I don't know?

Agreed, but how does the birth announcement confer citizenship, if he wasn’t in fact born in Hawaii? The better chance would be to forge a COLB. That may have been done, but the birth announcement sounds more like a social thing rather than an attempt at proof.

It is automatically generated from the registration of a birth. I don’t believe the family, or mother placed the announcement itself, but rather that their registering the child caused the information to be automatically sent to the paper.

There is little doubt of the admirable work Horowitz has done and continues to do with respect to Islamofascism. That being said, he was a 60's leftist radical whose parents I believe were elite members of CPUSA in good standing. I have listened to him and agree where there is ideological compatibility.

I am however cautious when those who claim to be or have become conservative seem uninterested in a constructionist view of the U.S. Constitution. The brilliance of the document written over two hundred years ago, is timeless in that it foresaw this type of approach to shepard an effort to destroy what so many sacrificed to create. Those who oppose the fundamental beliefs that this country was founded upon will not and have not surrendered their attempts to destroy it.

I am concerned so many of the so called defender so this as an extremist approach to in some way replace the spilled milk into the bottle from the election. I believe those of us who are concerned for the strict application of the Constitution have seen many instances where unconstitutional application of laws have been enacted over our history. In retrospect, we recognize the intent may have been good but the application has been disastrous.

If such gross neglect as this were allowed to exist unchecked, what precedent is set that in the future would most likely result in disastrous results?

Then he is just an empty suit lacking true conviction and looking only for that next paycheck.

Back in the day, even Geraldo had more balls than that.

I will never forget the Dem creep who told Cavuto something to the effect of “I hope you’re not one of those taken off the air”.

This was *before* the election.

The inevitable future was shown in the cards, right then....and half the country blinked.

And, it should be repeated once again, Hawaii law allowed the registration of a birth to a Hawaii resident who was not in the country at the time of the birth.

Yup!

§338-5 Compulsory registration of births. Within the time prescribed by the department of health, a certificate of every birth shall be substantially completed and filed with the local agent of the department in the district in which the birth occurred, by the administrator or designated representative of the birthing facility, or physician, or midwife, or other legally authorized person in attendance at the birth; or if not so attended, by one of the parents.

[§338-17.8] Certificates for children born out of State. (a) Upon application of an adult or the legal parents of a minor child, the director of health shall issue a birth certificate for such adult or minor, provided that proof has been submitted to the director of health that the legal parents of such individual while living without the Territory or State of Hawaii had declared the Territory or State of Hawaii as their legal residence for at least one year immediately preceding the birth or adoption of such child.
(b) Proof of legal residency shall be submitted to the director of health in any manner that the director shall deem appropriate. The director of health may also adopt any rules pursuant to chapter 91 that he or she may deem necessary or proper to prevent fraudulent applications for birth certificates and to require any further information or proof of events necessary for completion of a birth certificate.

“I suppose the thing that disturbs me most is his argument that majoritarianism should trump the Constitution.”
____________

This is the same argument that is being made by Gay Marriage proponents in California. Who cares that the people have voted for a ban by wide margins, the court should over turn the will of the people. Slippery slope.

Regular people everywhere are being fired or laid off.
They have only “modest” homes to worry about paying for.

Do you think “the stars” will give up their fame, privilege, posh homes and lifestyles for a silly thing like truth, integrity or journalistic principle?

I’m sorry, but every cherished illusion I had of “America” died November 4.

The stealth commies voted en masse and too many of the “he’s not good enough for me” conservatives sat home and did nothing.

Evil triumphed....and a lot of people *let* it.

Thanks, I needed to read that again!

I should have said “required” rather than “allowed”.

Your second paragraph is a bit unclear to me. Maybe I need more coffee, I've been up since 4.

Are you saying the intent of the US Constitution may have been good but the application poor, or that passing laws or neglecting the USC may have been carried out with good intention but the application is wrong?

I've read several of DH’s books. I'd have to say that he comes across as fairly conservative. And the root of his conversion was his dealing with the Black Panthers and learning just what a group of Bolshevik-wannabbees they truly were/are. I don't think he'd be writing any glowing reviews accepting Obammie the Commie's election if it were unconstitutional given Obammie the Commie's penchant for using the same thug tactics as the Black Panthers.

One of those books of his that I've read is “The Art of Political Warfare.” Throwing the birth-certificate issue in the faces of Obammie’s Commies loud and and hard would be in accordance with the suggestions laid out in that book.

Of course, like always, I could be wrong about DH and his degree of conservatism. But there is another DH out there writing liberal crap. I wonder if the ripoff is using “David” instead of “Dave” deliberately to detract from the original.

And it should be repeated a million times a day that the people who voted for this abomination _do not care_.

If it were proven beyond any shadow of doubt ~tomorrow~ that he was born in a mud hut in Mombasa to a woman who’d renounced her US citizenship and fathered by Satan himself, they will STILL worship him.

The laws of this land mean -nothing- to them.

They -only- want absolute power over us and they will continually seek ways to have it....”by any means necessary”.

So what you are saying is, I can bring a copy of my birth announcement and use it as proof I am a citizen?

I didn’t do any birth announcements for my kids at all, they just have Birth Certificates.
