The continuing efforts of a fringe group of conservatives to deny Obama his victory and to lay the basis for the claim that he is not a legitimate president is embarrassing and destructive. The fact that these efforts are being led by Alan Keyes, an unhinged demagogue on the political fringe who lost a senate election to the then unknown Obama by 42 points should be a warning in itself.
This tempest over whether Obama, the child of an American citizen, was born on American soil is tantamount to the Democrats' seditious claim that Bush "stole" the election in Florida and hence was not the legitimate president. This delusion helped to create the Democrats' Bush derangement syndrome and encouraged Democratic leaders to lie about the origins of the Iraq War, and regard it as illegitimate as Bush himself. It became "Bush's War" rather than an American War with destructive consequences for our troops and our cause.
The Birth Certificate zealots are essentially arguing that 64 million voters should be disenfranchised because of a contested technicality as to whether Obama was born on U.S. soil. (McCain narrowly escaped the problem by being born in the Panama Canal zone, which is no longer American.)
This whole election is like right out of a Tom Clancy novel. CREEPY!
> Cant you get a US passport even if you are not a natural-born citizen?
Yes you can. But the passport contains “Place of Birth”, which would be either a US State or a foreign country.
> Obamas passport is apparently issued as a courtesy as are all senators. No real check on the information.
He never had a US passport prior to becoming a Senator? Why was this not brought up as an issue when Palin’s lack of a Passport was questioned?
ummm...that would have required journalism.
He did travel to Indonesia, but we have no idea what passport he used. Sealed along with everything else.
And as a “constitutional lawyer”, ‘that one’ is well aware of that:

It’s....unsettling.
> ummm...that would have required journalism.
I think it’s time to stop blaming the media. Not counting the President, there were two Republicans with USD 300-400 billion megaphones to raise this issue. Forget the media, it will never attack or investigate Democrats. Next time, nominate candidates who are not afraid to be labeled “mean” by the Democratic reporters.
Like it or not this issue is not going away. The Contitution is very clear. if you're not a natural born citizen, you can't be President of the United States. It says so in article one Section three.
Hussien has yet to show us his birth certificate. Until he does this issue isn't going away.
And yes this issue will continue to be pressed. WE AS CONSERVATIVES WILL NOT SHUT UP ABOUT THIS ISSUE!!!!! Those who say we need to can go to that place Satan calls home as far as I'm concerned.

“Welcome to the Benight Zone—once known as America.”
” ...because of a contested technicality...”
So Mr. Whoreowitz the Constitution is just a technicality?
Just remember, someday, under this congress and WH, that technicality will be the 1st Amendment, will you be so trite with your terms then?
“And, it should be repeated once again, Hawaii law allowed the registration of a birth to a Hawaii resident who was not in the country at the time of the birth.”
Yes, and for those who are using a birth announcement in a Hawaii newspaper (or two), I’d like them to post the policy of the paper(s) at the time, since I have not read it/them.
From experience, many papers would assign someone to go to hospitals for announcements (birth-death), much the same as they did/do for police reports, obituaries. It was how many started out.
It IS a Constitutional matter. A matter of our Countrys’ Law.
Ignore a little and before you know it, there is no law that won’t be ignored. Don’t like a law, ignore it. The end becomes justification for one’s actions, as long as one can rationalize it. (no intended association per ‘one’s/one’)
Common sense allows that this could have been remedied by producing access to birth records and relatives.
At this point, ‘truther’ types will find reason for the delay and use the time line for any number of ways to obfuscate what may be factual.
(I weigh in on non-eligibility due to many factors)
What is the problem in providing the document, access and scrutiny? Pride, superiority, retribution, arrogance... other?
Did not see the other one. Malkee, Thanks for posting this article.
As we've discovered over many months of discussion of the issue we know that there's a "data base", an original "source document" (which may be called a "birth certificate", or " record of birth" depending on jurisdiction ~ and that's just for a start on the names used), a report document "short form" called "Certificate of Live Birth" and a "long form" also called "Certificate of Live Birth". The latter two are generally created by a computer from the "data base". These documents may be printed in whole or in part on special pre-printed forms, or just plain paper, or paper of a specific weight, and might well be modified with the addition of special marks.
There are variations in this process and what they do in one state may not be done in another.
What we also discovered is that at least two items posted on the internet by Leftwingtard sources appear to have been created recently and may well be somewhat less than "official". At the same time there's a document posted by Obama's own website that says he provided his own "creased copy" of a document he'd received earlier from the Hawiian government. This latter document appears to simply be a "short form".
It also seems to have been "misprinted", and someone may have run it through Photoshop or equivalent software to "crop it" to fit the space available on the webpage.
Horowitz seems to be saying that anyone asking for Obama to just provide his "long form" is harming America.
How ignorant of him. Only the "long form" has the information necessary to demonstrate that there's information on file in Hawaii that attests to Obama's birth in that state on a certain date as witnessed by certain persons.
Presentation of the original "source document" would be even better ~ and to assure the public, and the world, of the legitimacy of his regime, that would be little enough to ask.
The WHOLE WORLD IS WATCHING!
Horowitz demonstrates very sloppy thinking with several points of self contradiction. No coherent logical argument can be found in the article.
He suggests we are pushing this because were sore losers, but also because we want to uphold the constitutional requirement for presidential candidates, and then he suggests that such requirement is less important than majority rule and that its not conservative to give priority to the constitution.
Mr. Horowitz needs to start again, from the beginning, and simply write a new essay. He needs to show an understanding of the principles of our Constitution as well as the premises underlying his own argument. Also very important—he should focus a lot more on clarity and consistency of logic.
There are no good arguments for ignoring a basic Constitutional Presidential requirement: Presidents must be native born. It is shear sophistry to argue otherwise.
Of course, the real question is how much of the Constitution are you prepared to give away before digging in your heels? I suspect the damage will have been irrevocable by then.
Why is it OK with David Horowitz that a fraud, a con man, sweet talks his way into the White House?
Why?
This has me questioning Horowitz’ ‘conversion’ from a radical communist years ago.
These MSM pukes keep trying to minimize this, just like they minimized Obstruction of Justice and Perjury for BJ Clinton, (incidentally, the same charges Nixon was hounded out of office over), by saying it was just about sex, (wink, wink, nudge, etc., barrrfff).
Absolutely it’s Manchurian time.
Absolutely, this is the first issue ever I can recall where I have not defended the majors on talk radio.
