The continuing efforts of a fringe group of conservatives to deny Obama his victory and to lay the basis for the claim that he is not a legitimate president is embarrassing and destructive. The fact that these efforts are being led by Alan Keyes, an unhinged demagogue on the political fringe who lost a senate election to the then unknown Obama by 42 points should be a warning in itself.
This tempest over whether Obama, the child of an American citizen, was born on American soil is tantamount to the Democrats' seditious claim that Bush "stole" the election in Florida and hence was not the legitimate president. This delusion helped to create the Democrats' Bush derangement syndrome and encouraged Democratic leaders to lie about the origins of the Iraq War, and regard it as illegitimate as Bush himself. It became "Bush's War" rather than an American War with destructive consequences for our troops and our cause.
The Birth Certificate zealots are essentially arguing that 64 million voters should be disenfranchised because of a contested technicality as to whether Obama was born on U.S. soil. (McCain narrowly escaped the problem by being born in the Panama Canal zone, which is no longer American.)

On the contrary, What needs to happen is for the present day journalistic community to recognise that ordinary citizens now have the ability with the advent of broad internet use to make their voices heard on such important issues that are reported on. And that it can no longer be assumed that the average individuals mindset can easily be manipulated into believing erronious news stories no matter how they are reported on. Journalism today must begin providing total pertanent facts upfront in their reporting techniques. No longer are individuals satisfied being fed short factual information relevent to events related to their every day lives.
As I see it, one of two things needs to happen. Either (1) Journalism needs to begin being truthfull and up front with its informational facts or (2) the internet needs to be shut down. Simple as that.

Doesn’t your passport contain information about place of birth? Probably there is something extremely embarrassing in Obama’s birth certificate. Whatever that is, it is unlikely to be qualifications-for-president issues.

Obama’s passport is apparently issued as a courtesy as are all senators. No real check on the information.
We don’t know what passport he travelled to Pakistan with in 1981.
Only a suggestion here....but we might all want to let this just simmer on the stove-top for 2.5 years.
Imagine this scenario. Summer of 2011 comes up and in three to five states with a Republican legislature and Republican governor....they pass a simply-worded law which states that if you intend to run in the primary or the November election...you must provide a legitimate copy of your birth certificate to prove your citizenship to be president.
Immedately, the Democrats will pounce on this as being anti-Obama, but the truth is...the constitution already requires this to be president. You are merely making this as part of your voting process. The courts at the state level and even the Supreme Court...will have to agree that its in the constitution...therefore, nothing is illegal with this process.
So now Obama has to make a decision. He’s likely dump VP Joe Biden for NY Senator Caroline Kennedy and would normally be guaranteed the election. He decides not present his birth certificate in those three to five Republican states...and thus is not a candidate in the primary. By this point, some newspapers and some MSM folks have started to ask questions. With the plan of not running in those states....more states ask why they don’t have a birth certificate requirement.
By summer 2012....the Obama camp ought to be charged up....and instead is fairly screwed up....because he simply won’t play the birth certificate game in those three to five states. Democrats in those states feel disenfranchised. They can’t vote for Obama and will simply sit at home in November.
I think he has counted on a naive gameplan for 2008...we should reverse this entire trend in 2012...and let him explain his problem in four years or be tossed out.
The good part though is that its a great history lesson in experiencing how Germans in the 1930’s must have felt when the little corporal did his stuff.
I mean you sit there watching it, and you just cannot believe its actually happening. I guess we now know... it can happen here.
I have followed this issue with interest, but no real intensity. This is the first I have heard about a birth announcement in a Hawaii paper. If there was such a birth announcement just after his birth, I would be ready to throw in the towel on this issue. There would be no reason to fabricate Hussein’s place of birth AT THAT TIME. I know it is not evidence, but it strongly suggests that there is a valid birth certificate— which should simply be produced. I oppose any lawsuit that isn’t likely to be a winner, and IF there was a birth announcement, I’d say this one is ultimately a loser.
All we are asking is for Obama to undergo the same sort of background check any of us would be subject to if we were applying for a job requiring a high level security clearance.
This has not happened with Obama, in spite of what the Obama campaign, the DNC, the MSM, and hordes of “conservative” Obama followers might claim.
This background check will never happen for the man who will become one of the most powerful people on earth, and a man who has demonstrably taken steps to hide aspects of his life and career.
Access to his long form birth certificate would be only a small part of the background check that should have happened months ago.
Is this too much to ask?
