It was 45 years ago today, November 22, 1963, that President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas. Here are a series of videos that bring back the events of the day, beginning with the extremely graphic Zapruder film showing the assassination itself, followed by news coverage of the assassination . . . . . I was not born then but from what I hear it was a horrible day for America. Glad we overcame this tragedy. God Bless America.
Even when President Reagan was shot, I just knew he was going to make it...
I was in first grade, lived 35 miles from Dallas, Oswald’s niece was in my class, and I’ve been fascinated with the events of that day ever since. Through the years I have had the opportunity to meet MANY of the people involved that day. I’ve met Oswald’s brother, 4 of the doctors who attended JFK at Parkland, many of the Dallas reporters there that day, Jim Leavelle who was handcuffed to LHO when he was shot, Buell Frazier, who drove LHO to work that day, one of the arresting officers at the Texas Theater, and several of the investigators including Robert Groden. It’s hard to believe that it’s been 45 years.........I hope that some day we know the truth.
I was scraping paint on the 01 deck of the USS Vulcan (AR-5) when the word of the assassination was spread.
As a 20 year old Seaman, I’m sad to say that my first reaction was concern that my weekend liberty would be canceled.
Something those of us who were old enough to remember will never forget. God forbid this ever happens again.
God Bless the USA!
I was an 18-yr-old college freshman, walking outdoors with some fellow students when someone ran up and told us about it. We all rushed inside to the TV.
Wow, that’s very impressive. What would you say is the most interesting thing you learned about the case from any of those people?
The closest I got to everything was that my family visited relatives in the Oak Cliff part of Dallas in the Summer of '63. Have visited Dealy Plaza a couple of times since then...
About 10 years ago, the stats folks said half the population of Americans were alive on this historic day. As many were small children then, they remembered little. So, today, less then 50% of the U.S. population can say they witnessed this terrible event.
I was in lunch room when we got word. I was in the 7th grade.
I recall walking into our Living Room and my Mom was watching Black and White TV and she said "Kennedy's been shot".
We sat there in shocked silence while we watched the news reports.
Events unfolded quickly.

Amen. My family were Nixon supporters, but we mourned along with the nation when JFK was assassinated. It was horrible for his family, and it was horrible for our nation.
I was still in highschool. Our school librarian came to the door of our classroom and called the English teacher outside the door to tell her that all classes were being cancelled because of the death of the President.
We lived one block from the school, and I walked home practically in shock. Mother was watching the coverage on television. We all sat glued to the television set...saw Jack Ruby kill Lee Harvey Oswald...all events through the funeral and afterward.
One thing I noticed then that hasn’t changed - the immediate speculation was that the evil deed was “a vast right-wing conspiracy”, and it turned out to be a leftist job. If Oswald hadn’t had irrefutable connections with the Soviet Union, I have no doubt he would have been painted a right-winger.
Unlikely. Addison's disease would have taken him long ago. And without the protection of the press and public image of the Camelot myth, his sleazy dalliances and corrupt political practices would have come out long before his death.
Being sleazy didn’t keep his little brother from becoming “an honorable elder statesman”.
Agree the sod would have been connected to Sam Giancana when the mob members started to fall and the msm would have been helpless the msm won’t connect the dots about his brother getting double tapped.
I was in 2nd grade in northern Calif. The teacher took a call on the intercom phone from the front office and then announced the President had been shot. About a half hour or so later she told us he was dead. School was dismissed, and I remember seeing nothing but assassination coverage on all the TV channels. Though it was 45 years ago and I was only 7, I remember it well.
