Senator Says Right-Wing Radio Worse than Pornography

An opening salvo in the upcoming bid to silence talk radio criticism of left-wing government programs and officials was fired by Senator Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.). Citing regulations that penalize lewd language, Schumer suggested that the rude language of commentators like Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity merited similar government oversight and control.
The lewd language of pornography disrespects the body, but the rude language of Limbaugh, Hannity and their ilk disrespects the mind, Schumer contended. Limbaugh alone pollutes the thoughts of 20 million listeners a day. If the government can crackdown on the purveyors of pornographic filth it has to have the power to crackdown on the purveyors of ideological filth.
The vehicle for the anticipated crackdown on ideological filth is the reimplementation of the so-called Fairness Doctrine. The Fairness Doctrine is the term given to government regulation of the content of TV and radio broadcasts that began in 1949. The regulation was suspended by the Federal Communications Commission in 1987 on the grounds that the original scarcity of frequencies argument for the regulation was no longer valid.
As Schumer sees it, the FCC needs to monitor these broadcasts for ideological decency. If there are perceived indecencies, the broadcasts will have to be banned or be accompanied by an antidote of equal time for ideologically acceptable speech. The right-wing assault on decency cannot go on unchecked.

Satire so close to the truth, youll believe it is real. well it basically is what *uckie said two weeks ago...
not hard to imagine a powerwhore of that pricks capacity spouting off that porn is 'fantasy' and talk radio is 'reality', therefore dangerous to the masses...
they also better hurry up and stamp out gun ownership, as well as knives, arrows, gasoline, rat poison, pointy sticks, rocks, oxygen etc ad infinitum...
so many dangerous things to worry about in todays scary world...
so many targets, so little time to kill...

This shouldn't surprise anybody that they're trying this. It's like I told a friend of mine yesterday... Effectively, the party now in power has a solid reputation for denying the power of God, and sometime His existence entirely. They also support the murder of the unborn, and homosexuality.
So what we have are leaders who are godless, baby murdering, homosexuals.
Nobody should be surprised at anything that they do, or try to do. Historically, no nation has made it much farther than ours has already.

Historically, no nation has made it much farther than ours has already. had a pretty good discussion with my pastor awhile back regardin history of the great civilizations...
when marriage gets watered down and homo/pediphilia becomes the mainstay, the proverbial 'writing on the wall' is at hand...
at this point I almost look forward to the collapse, so as to hopefully be empowered to rebuild a Christian Republic AGAIN...
200+ yrs is a pretty good run, esp in todays techie world...

Agreed. But the end of this run is going to be worse than others. We've got too many, who depend on too much, which in turn depeneds on fragile but critical underlying systems. When these critical systems fail to function, the effect will be disproportional among the population.
A single case in point are our food distribution systems. JiT (Just in Time) inventory delivery systems by the major food producers have ensured that there's "about" a 72 hour food supply in every major population center. Think back to when we were kids. Remember before a huge storm what happened at the store? Now jump up to present day and think about what happens. Stuff gets gone quickly! TOO quickly! It doesn't help that people in general keep less than 30 days worth of food in their homes. Far too many trust a fragile system.
...and I'm only talking about the food industry! What about fuel and the underlying complex systems? What about people who drive 30 miles or more to work? What about the subdevelopments which contain acre upon acre of "cardboard box" houses that turn into furnaces in the summer, and ice boxes in the winter without piped in power? What about a government that has just done something which has seriously killed the confidence of the consumer and business base here in America?
I'm trying not paint a bleak picture here, but I don't have a good feeling about what's around the corner for the nation.
