-snip- While I have always been more interested in the Conservative aspect of candidates (as opposed to the genetic makeup that liberals obsess over) their is no denying that the GOP has always been seen as mainly "old, male, and white," a major point of interest to the media. Things only looked worse when comparing the two primary entrants this year, as the white, male Republicans faced a field that included a black man, a white woman, a Hispanic, an alien-enthusiast, and whatever you consider John Edwards.
Like most conservatives, I do not care about the race or sex of candidates. However, there is no denying that there is some appeal to non-white and male candidates, after all I don't instinctively list Tim Pawlenty on my list of favorite conservatives (and would that be different if he were black? Maybe.) It doesn't help that none of the candidates of 2008 were sufficiently conservative. Huckabee was a more liberal Governor than Bill Clinton was in Arkansas. Giuliani had his social issues. McCain is, well, McCain. Romney was a Johnny-come-conservative-lately. Consider that I, a staunch pro-lifer and social conservative, voted for Giuliani in the primaries and you understand how bad of shape the Republican Party is in. -snip-

Check out the American Conservative Party website. Fledgling organization it seems, but right on the money for conservative politics. I’m going to be looking at them. I give up on the GOP.
btt
third parties don’t make it in this country that is why the radical left appropriated the democratic party. Conservatives forgot that conservatism is a movement not a political party. It’s time we realize that and understand the best strategy is to take over the GOP just like the far left did to the democrats. If we fracture our side with petty squables and differences we will remain perpetual losers. We need to do what Reagan never did, purge the republican party of non-conservatives and focus on winning just like the left does. Politics, as Clausewitz was fond of noting, is war by another means. We must be prepared to fight it and neuter the opposition. Something that sadly the other side is more willing to do to us than we are to them.
Agree with your post. You are correct.
What was that term Ann Coulter used? It begins with an "f".
Which of those?
Ideology is dead, it simply won’t pay the bills any longer. Fewer and fewer people will pay attention to abstract semi-religious dogmatic hoooey.
See ya.
Amazing << Hear this. Feel this, and tell me that this isn't music.

No one is suggesting a new party as a third party. It’s being suggested as a REPLACEMENT party.
The key thing is for social conservatives to take over the Republican Party.
Tagline material.

Good luck to you, but it is little more than re-arranging the deck chairs on a sinking ship. All ideologies die, whatever “ism” it is now really won’t matter a hill of beans a few years from now.
They forgot about Fred Tompson.
Whatever “ism” it is it has a life expectancy, a short one.

Ouch, that’s gotta hurt.

Problem with saying with a conservative GOP is that you’re going to have to decouple social issues or risk your conservative constitutional position among people who would be open to smaller, less invasive government and lower taxes-more jobs. The two don’t mix; you can’t legislate morality nor do most people want it. The irony in the obama election is that the so called values voters stayed home thereby guaranteeing more.abortions. Those voters are of no value against a foe like Obama.
