"Why do Naval Academy grads suck at politics?!"

It's not just Annapolis...I observed back when McCain secured the nomination that there was a distinct difference between the flavor of leadership that came to the Oval Office from the Navy vs. the Army....just to name a few from the last hundred years...

Navy

GHW Bush
Jimmy Carter
Gerald Ford
Richard Nixon
JFK
FDR (Ass't SecNav, but never uniformed)

Army

Ronald Reagan
Dwight D. Eisenhower
Harry S. Truman

Theodore Roosevlet could technically be grouped under either, as Ass't SecNav and as Colonel in the 1st USVCR.

Of course, Either the US Army or Nay is preferable to service in the Kenyan Foreign Legion.

Folks disturbed by McCain's silence in defense of Palin, really need to wake up and recognize McCain for who he has ALWAYS been....damn it, NOT who they think he is..

McCain is STILL the same bastard who:

- Lost enough aircraft to almost qualify as an ACE, for the enemy. Only an Admiral's son/grandson would have retained flying status...

- With Kerry, white washed the MIA/POW report provided by Communist Vietnam.

- Whored around both before and during his marriage.

- Dumped his injured 1st wife, who fought to keep the issue of POWs in the forefront.

- Married his Rich Trophy wife -- learning from his pal Kerry.

- Defended Kerry from the TRUTHFUL Swift Boat Veterans for Truth -- and ATTACKED the TRUTHFUL veterans to protect his proven LIAR and TRAITOR of a friend, Kerry.

- Has anyone forgotten Campaign Finance Reform??? It was poetic justice that Obama ignored it and kicked his ass.

- Uh....how about full amnesty for 20/30 million illegal aliens..... Poetic justice that voted against him this time.

- His media ass-kissing role as "maverick".... Lovely, huh?

And now some folks are surprised or troubled by how he and his staff have attempted to blame Palin and attack her with LIES???

Are these folks slow learners on a very shallow learning curve, or simply stupid....

There is NO CURE for Stupid.

I am a 5th generation Cobb County Georgia resident. 5 years ago I moved northward away from there because of Yankees, high taxes, and infringement of rights. The Firearms license I kept there took two months to get and needless expense.

I went to renew the license in the small probate courthouse in the county where I now live. I was prepared for a whole day of bureaucratic crap. Doris in the probate office said "whatcha here for honey?" I told her a GFL. She said come on over here and let's get this processed. During the exhange, her office worker asked her if she still carried that 38 in her purse and if she'd gotten a permit yet. She said, "I don't need a permit, I work for the Judge". Doris quickly filled out the form, told me to trot over to the county jail and come back and she'd issue it pronto.

Went to the jail, the police were busy and a sweet receptionist said "come on back and we'll get this done". 15 minutes and I was out of there and back over at Doris'. Doris promptly typed up the card, stamped it with the Judge's seal, laminated it and I was out of there.

God, I love small towns.....where I came from used to be like that.

Folks, what we have here is a serious indictment of John McCain’s judgment, either way.

Either there’s nothing to these scurrilous attacks on Palin, in which case McCain is showing a lack of good sense and decency in failing to defend her (and to defend his own selection of a running mate he endorsed for VP).

OR, if he really does think the attacks are fair (I sure don’t, but he knows more than almost anyone about the matter) then it is a serious indictment of his judgment and confirms what the Demagogues said about him.

I happen to think that there is no real factual basis to this onslaught, or nothing beyond a couple of trivial things twisted far out of context and plausibility.

However, unless McCain can find it worthwhile to defend his own running mate against such scurrilous attacks (and it’s just about too late now), it becomes more clear that he is not worthy of our respect either way.

As a reminder we all know what happened.

After supporting illegal’s and ‘fine gold’, and other dimwitted legislation there were too many conservatives that don’t trust McLame.

Those moves seemed like catering to the left for political gain.

We all knew this before he got the nod.

And most of us an FR knew he couldn’t win as a result.

Obama I think actually helped us more than a more moderate candidate but there was no way for conservatives to trust McLame again.

Boy were we ever RIGHT ABOUT THIS ONE.

Him jumping on the bailout reminded us why we didn’t like McLame in the first place. He is a ‘Big Government” Republican.

I’m actually hoping that Barack Obama does put John McCain in a cabinet position, which would also create a situation where a new GOP Senator would take his place. By state law, the Arizona Governor has to pick a Republican to replace McCain, and McCain is already a RINO Republican, so if the Governor ends up replacing a RINO with another RINO as her choice, then nothing changes that much politically. But, McCain would also no longer be a Senator, in such a possible political move.

Sarah Palin should sue the entire McCain team for $20 million for incompetence and impersonating a campaign staff.

After all, Sarah Palin had more problems transcending the “we-can’t-sat-that” PC team inside the John McCain campaign than she did the vast middle class, who understood her direct style implicitly.

Being from the rugged wilderness, Sarah Palin obviously didn’t realize just how restricted she would be with the McCain ticket.

Her VP campaign started off great.... but by Sept. 10, Palin was forced to undergo a keep-quiet-and-do-what-we-say type of PC makeover.... which never sits well with an alpha ‘maverick’ like the Alaska Governor.

Especially from a woman who knew she was the most exciting thing on the Republican ticket in 2008.

As jealousy clouded the McCain team’s judgement and burned up their Blackberries, McCain aids at first hid Palin from public view.... and when criticized by the “media”, they suddenly instructed Palin to do those two high-pressure interviews with Charles Gibson and Katie Couric.

Both of which put Palin in a shaky light, which could easily have been remedied had only the McCain team had the balls God gave them at birth.

McCain forced Palin to hide for two weeks, which allowed the national DNC-supporting press to paint Palin a new personna.... which wasn’t pretty.

Bottom line: Sarah Palin should sue the entire McCain campaign team for incompetence and impersonating a campaign....

Apparently your first concern is to defend McCain.

The first concern for most of us here is for strenghtening the future of conservative principles, and suitable candidates in the Republican Party SO FAR AS THEY EXIST.

So, for me, and I suspect for many other FReepers, the best thing (perhaps the only thing) McCain gave to our future from this campaign is Governor Sarah Palin.

To the extent that McCain and his key aides sit back and allow her to be trashed unjustly, he and his friends have forfeited all right to our respect and support.

I do notice that Miss Lindsey Graham found time to issue a fervent press release supporting Rahm Emanuel in his new COS position. THAT, my friends (hate that phrase when used with total strangers), is what McCain and company will have as their legacy if they can’t/won’t beat down this scurrilous campaign to scapegoat Sarah Palin for McCain’s defeat.

He was complimentary in his concession speech. It’s since then that the attacks have pummeled Sarah and he’s off in his own foxhole somewhere.

It is mystifying to me that a man who had the balls to survive torture and imprisonment, doesn’t have enough balls to defend the person that HE picked to be his running mate. Unless....he really wanted Leiberman.

By the way, obama has to reveal his true birth certificate to a partial panel of the Supreme Court on December 1st.

Or what?

What a stupid remark. I never liked McCain as a candidate that much.

It's trying to determine what is true that I want. Try it sometine.
