I just voted straight Republican ticket, including John McCain and Sarah Palin, in one of the bluest States in the Union. Some of you may be saying, "Why bother?" The fact of the matter is that my vote matters in this election more than other races in the past. Here is why:
Imagine if John McCain wins the electoral college, but loses the popular vote. The ramifications of that happening, which is very possible, would be devastating. There really would be riots in the streets. People and the media would think McCain was an illegitimate President. That is why my vote today is important; it mitigates the damage that will result from a close election, or future tensions between Americans.
My vote today ensures that if John McCain wins, he wins with the popular vote as well. I advise all you Republicans, and people Right of Center, in blue States to please get out and vote this election. Don't stay home because you think your vote does not count. It does!
Please consider the future of this Country; we need a mandate, not a one-state swing in the electoral college.
This here is a great reminder for those of us who live in either "solid blue" or "solid red" states.
YOUR VOTE MATTERS.
Do not take it for granted.
Yes it does matter. Show up!
I hear you! I’m in Erie County, NY....... blue as you’re going to get but I want mine counted just the same.
The same goes in a red state Mac will win by +20 as well.
Not only is our state the bluest of all blue states, they also like to claim Obama as a “native son” though he rarely mentions his time here. I intend to cast my lone red vote in the next couple of weeks as well (we have early voting). Hawaii will have at least 3 votes for McCain - hubby, son, and mine. Wonder if I could have signed up our cats at the registration booth where they recruited my son (a probable ACORN pro-Obama group on campus). That would be doubly delicious - two feline ACORNs for McCain.
Nice post. Thanks.
Good post.
I voted absentee on Friday in one of the most blue states, Alaska.
Blue=Red whatever.
I guess Iowa has turned from purple to blue, but I will cast a red vote here.
Spot on!!!!
vote counts in blue state bump!!!!
i will be voting in illinois.
This is exactly what happened to Bush in 2000 - he won the electoral college - but Gore (supposedly) won the popular vote.
Is it any wonder the dems continue to push for ditching the electoral college.
However, when Bush ran against Kerry - Bush’s popular vote count was in the millions more than Kerry.
The dems stopped talking about the electoral college for awhile.
Now .. they just want the conservatives to sit down and shut up. I plan to rebel against that.
Also, if the leftists completely dominate politics, then one of the many terrible things that they will definitely do is completely eliminate the Electoral College forever! This present election couldn’t be more important for the sake of keeping both “U.S. conservatism” and U.S. capitalism alive longer.
It’s also key to remember that depressing the Republican turnout is KEY to their strategy.
Making us feel like there’s no point.
So hold on to your seats as we see an onslaught of inevitability reports and polls being released over the next two weeks.
And then ignore them and vote anyway.
I don't understand why anyone would fore-go the opportunity unless they are uniformed and not feeling up to the decision. In which case, I whole heartedly support their choice.

Concur. It’s comical to me to see many of my leftist peers whine about how their votes in red states for Dims “don’t count”.
Very nice post.
Los Angeles California=two votes for McCain/Palin My husband and myself!
Be sure to tell them there’s no point in voting then.
:P
I used to live in a solid blue state, Minnesota, I voted anyway. I now live in a solid red state, Tennesee, I am still going to vote. I want my vote counted whether or not it counts. I would hate that all the people that fought for my right to vote did it in vain.
Republican States used to be Blue, but the Media made the switch because Red denotes Evil and Blue denotes Serene.
You know, the serene setting of the Socialist Utopia. Rainbows, Unicorns, Abortion Clinics and Hippies.
