McCain Sees 17-Point Surge In USA Today Poll
The Royal Savage ^ | 9/8/2008 | Holden Des Montsverts

Posted on 09/07/2008 8:34:47 PM PDT by Yankee Sailor

The USA Today/Gallup poll completed on September 7 has the McCain/Palin ticket holding a 10 point lead over Obama/Biden.

[Polling data can be found in original post]

This represents the first time McCain has led Obama by a double-digit margin since january, 2007. It also represents a 17 point swing in McCain's favor since the last USAT/Gallup poll completed on August 31 and the first time McCain has led Obama in the RealClearPolitics average since April.

Expect the panic in the Obama camp to spread accordingly.

I hope that’s just the beginning. I hope the Rat party and the MSM get flushed back to where they belong.

I noticed that too, he kept his powder dry the whole time the Media was going attack crazy over the selection of Palin.

Who should really get credit for this? The Left Wing Media, they were played to the hilt.

If Obama was really an agent of change, why did he pick Biden. Biden is the ghost of Liberals Past.

If there is a God in Heaven that sorry lowlife SOB who posted that libelous garbage about Palin over at DailyKos ought to be marched off the Levenworth. That was purely a hit job on an innocent girl. I hope that worthless POS never sees the light of day.

This is where all the stuff came from in the blogs and even the national media and had anyone bothered to investigate this they would have found the truth. Trig is Sarah’s son. Bristol is an innocent victim; not a “public person” and she ought to sue the britches off of anyone who published this trash. I’d say about a half a billion dollars sounds right to me.

Do we have any good lawyers here who would like to take this case? The identity of that creep is known. That evil, worthless, minion of Satan needs to pay through the nose. He can run but he can’t hide.

And if there is any connection to the Obama campaign he is absolutely toast. This sounds like something out of his playbook.

From the DU thread, I think they’re finally catching

“All the over-the-top Palin attacks...

...are beginning to have an impact. Blasting the mother of a Down’s kid for being a bad mom? Working moms can’t have high-level jobs because they need to be at home with the kids? And don’t get me started on the whole baby-switching thing. Sheesh.

Why do you think Obama told his people to cut any attacks on Palin’s family, etc., and that he’d fire any staffer involved in anything like that? He got it real quick. She is middle America and trashing her only backfires with swing state voters. Better to take her on regarding policy ONLY, or better yet, don’t MENTION her and stay on message - Change, No four more years.

Instead I’ve seen post after post of people saying “Well Obama has to say that, but we should keep digging for dirt and spread it around!” as if fools have better political instincts than Obama whose incredible skills have brought about his meteoric rise. Thanks DU and DKos (among others) for wiping out Obama’s convention bounce through stupidly falling into McCain’s trap. Palin as tar-baby. Better hope for a briar patch.”

I am so glad to see these results. I have to say, though, that I don't trust polls farther than I can spit after what they did in 1996 to Sen. Bob Dole. Legislation was passed shortly after that election to force them to report demographics and to follow reasonable standards but I am still very, very, wary of them.

But, I'm going to allow myself to be happy with these numbers for a few minutes. I suspect they are still inaccurate by 5-10%, because conservatives tend to exceed the polls predictions. Bob Doles results were 20% better than at least one of the polls published weeks from election night in the 1996 contest. Lets hope this problem of crooked and slanted polls has been somewhat corrected, but I will never ever trust them again.

I'll still put this last jab in, because they may try to use these good numbers to play with our heads later, by dropping them suddenly before the election:

"The only poll that counts is the voting booth."

I saw it. We knew nine hours before the national media had the news. Right here. Great investigative work.

I hope you’re right. Leftist or Conservative, the more people see of 0 the more concerned they become. I know leftists who already regret that it’s not a Clinton/Obama ticket. The more the MSM attacks Palin the more support McCain/Palin get and the more the credibility of the MSM decays. And who’s that guy running with 0?

I guessing 255 Obama to 285 McCain +/-7.

That said, do not let up. 300+ electoral votes for McCain is not impossible and would be a powerful mandate. And this election could still be lost.

Looks like the undecideds, have decided.

Yeppers.

BTW, I just went to check on our friends at DU for a while, until I got the bends and had to come back. I don't think they are coping very well. At the moment they are seem calm, but they had better get the strait jackets ready.

Earlier today on FOX,(I believe it was with Brian Wilson, not sure on the name). There was a female BO surrogate on. The host was discussing the rumor about a poll showing McCain/Palin with a lead outside of the margin of error. She told him that the BO campaign always viewed itself as a underdog in the election,(lol). I believe their internal polls shows them really hemmorraging and they do not know how to stop the bleeding. Does anyone else smell TOAST?

The big MO is on our side, Obama and Biden are going to have to rely on the debates. Also, Palin’s media interviews, hope for a gotcha moment.

The media’s attacks on Palin = RatherGate in 2004.

Anytime the media becomes an issue, it helps Republicans.

"Bill Press was on the radio during the convention, for some reason, and called Palin's selection "The stupidest political move I've ever seen." Consider the source."

LOL! Actually, it's almost difficult to fathom "Bill Press levels" of idiocy. Even insults to his intelligence fail to capture his rank stupidity.

The libs are responding to these poll numbers by saying it’s innaccurate because the Gallup phone poll underrepresents the under-30 crowd, which is assumed to be pro-Obama, because they only have cell phones and aren’t home to take calls from pollsters on Friday and Saturday nights.
