Contrasting Word-Clouds of the Acceptance Speeches of Sen Barrak Obama and Gov Sarah Palin
Wordle | Aug 30,2008 | Anonymous

These two word-clouds give us a view of the contrasts between the acceptance speeches of Obama and Palin. Created using Wordle, I tried to match them, in terms of layout, as closely as I could. It is interesting to note that there are many personal words in Palin's speech. I look forward to the comments.

But..”it’s a promise we make to our kids, that they can become anything they want”...

We should vote for Obama, because then our kids can do anything.

The ‘rat speeches are full of shameless emotional appeals.
I used “An Inconvenient Truth” to teach my kids about emotional appeals. By the end of the movie they were cracking each other up by pointing out the emotional appeals and saying, “We should believe global warming because....”.

Palin will give her acceptance speech at the convention, just like Obama did. She hasn’t received the nomination yet, nor has McCain. They are the presumptive nominees of the party. You are comparing apples to oranges.

The thing that fascinates me is that everyone (here and elsewhere) seems to be comparing Obama with Palin, trying to discern who is most experienced, most qualified to be president.

Since when does one party's vice president nominee need to exceed the abilities of the other parties president nominee?

FWIW, I think Palin would clearly be a better president than Obama -- but I find the widespread comparison to be interesting. It's like Biden has ceased to exist (and of course no one ever questions McCain's qualification, some folks may not like his ideas, but the man is clearly the most qualified person in the race).

Actually there’s nothing particularly fascinating about comparing Palin and Obama: the left’s anti-Palin talking points (save those eminating from the harpies of the shrill pro-infanticide wing of feminism) are all about ‘inexperience’.

Guess what: she’s got more executive experience than Obama and Biden combined.

If they want to make experience an issue, then the demonRATs look like fools because their ticket is upside down with the neophyte at the top and the seasoned hand in the second slot.

He pulled a classic liberal trick. He said he supported the right to bear arms but that shouldn’t mean that gang members should be allowed to have AK-47s. Well, I don’t recall anyone suggesting gang members should have guns of any kind. What he was suggesting subtly, and what liberal anti-gun types believe is that Republicans want felons to have automatic weapons.
