In her inaugural speech as Alaskas 11th Governor, Sarah Palin said: More government is not the answer. . . Government cant make you happy, it cant make you healthy, it cant make you a productive member of society. Governments role is to provide the tools.
With those words she defined herself as a conservative. Whether she is in the mold of Reagan or Goldwater or Buckley doesnt matter, for Sarah Heath Palin seems to be headed for her own destiny and unique mark upon the American political landscape.
During the recent primaries, whenever Mrs. Clinton started to stumble, bumble or tumble, she was never humble. She would usually throw out the charge of sexism to explain her precipitous drop in a particular states poll or actual election outcome. To wit, many males would respond by saying that they had no problem voting for a woman, just not THAT woman.
I was once asked what female I would vote for if she were on the ballot and I answered Gov. Palin of Alaska. To my befuddled liberal tablemates who never heard of her, it sounded like I made up a name to show I wasnt a knuckle-dragging troglodyte. But to conservative friends she was a comfortable name sitting on the bench waiting to go into the game. A natural.
When I came to my senses after voting for James Earl Carter in the first presidential election I was old enough to vote in, I was moved by Gov. Reagans ease of communicating never-before heard conservative principals. Growing up in Chicago they were alien concepts. Government is not the solution to your problems but the cause?? What was he smoking?
But there was something about his persona that made me keep listening. He was always smiling. Not that rehearsed, frozen comic-book grin that so many politicians have. He really seemed happy. Happy with life, with America, with himself. Unlike Carter who was always frowning and looked miserable. Jackie Mason had a funny bit about that election when he said that Carter was always talking about the deficit, the deficit, the deficit... to which Reagan had the perfect response: There is no deficit! and smiled as he got on his horse and rode away.
Sarah Palin has that quality of deep contentment and joy that comes across the tv screen. She is the opposite of the liberal feminists who come across as bitter, self-loathing, male-hating political apparatchiks seeking power for its own sake.
Yes, shes the anti-Hillary. And the libs know it. Thats why they are afraid of her. She represents all that they hate. A woman that made it on her own, without riding her husbands coattails. A family centered person, a pro-life mom who chose to have a Downs-Syndrome baby instead of aborting that precious life. A Second Amendment rights advocate and NRA member. A hunter, a pro-energy independence/pro-drilling Governor, someone who doesn't want to rely on the federal government for handouts. Someone who is happy with herself, who loves her family and her country.
If Senator McCain chooses her he will throw sand into the eyes of his political enemies. Enough to momentarily blind them, and to momentarily lift the scales off the eyes of many who, like me, were once blinded to the truth of the American Ideal.
Maybe we need a fresh face like Sarah Palin to hold back the liberal Jackals that seek to nip at the very foundations of this great nation. Then again, maybe we just need a conservative with the charm of Reagan, the fortitude of Goldwater and the mental acuity of Buckley that also happens to be a beautiful woman! It cant hurt...

“In this present crisis, government is not the solution to our problems. Government is the problem.”
—President Ronald Reagan. First Inaugural Address.
msnbc SAYS PALIN IS IN ALASKA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not only would she make a very capable VP, she will have an outstanding chance of holding the WH after McCain’s term. A truly inspired choice by McCain, who is running a campaign that far exceeds my expectations.
I have only one question. What about all the stuff on FR I’ve seen in the past few weeks on her being involved in the largest single tax increase on the oil industry Alaska’s ever seen? Especially when we’re hurting not only for oil, but because of high oil prices. Has she been exonerated on this? There was mention that one company actually stopped a project because of the new, higher taxes.

enough said.
“she will have an outstanding chance of holding the WH after McCains term”
And this is something that needs to be of huge importance. Can you imagine Palin and Hitlery going head to head in 4 years???
No...government's job is to get out of the way.

With all the excitement about Palin being a possibility, McCain will have lots of splanin to do if he doesn’t pick a woman.
Bump!
McCain has done a pretty masterful job of getting everyone’s attention just a day after the man annointed by God to lead this country accepted his nomination, hasn’t he?
Has anyone seen her in Alaska in recent hours or is that just the story being put out?
I agree. It was so exciting to hear, and now it looks like a blogger played a huge trick, worst of all on McCain, if he didn’t pick her.
