The best moments of Obama's pathetic performance at... uh... Saddleback... uh... forum.
Speaking properly is also above his pay grade..
Cue the Porky Pig dialogue! LOLOL
What a knothead. He felt intimidated for some reason, I can see it in his face.
After 8 years of Bush voice clips, I guess its payback time now. I don’t think we’ll see it on Leno though.
Can you say “ Waffle” ?
What bothered me the most, way more than the stuttering and hemming and hawing, was that he couldn’t look the guy in the eye.
NoBama comes across as intelligent as a snail (no dispresct intended to snails either). This guy comes across as smart as a box of hammers (so there's my redemption; mea culpa on behalf of the snails kingdom.
One can genuinely ascertain a speakers veracity, and quality of their rationality, by listening to their use of "uh" or "um". Those are what are colloquially referred to as pregnant non-pauses. Such speakers are totally uncomfortable by not saying anything, and are afraid to say the wrong thing, they say "uh" or "um" while they're thinking what to say. This is one of the greatesst symptoms that whomever is speaking is lying. More or less, one can be fairly certain that somebody who's speaking off the cuff, without use of "uh" or "um", or stammering, is being honest.
People who just can't avoid the use of "uh" or "um" quite frankly just can't think on their feet, or have something to hide.
You want to watch a master deciever in action: watch and listen to Bill Clinton speak. He NEVER uses "um" or "uh". Its a very secure person who can stand there and ponder their answer for a few seconds before rendering a reply. Bill Clinton is like that (so is Dick Cheney).
One should ask themselves which person would present the better image to foreign heads of state, NoBoama (or any alternative).
Just a piece of advice, if oneself has the "uh" and/or "um" problem, try using "active listening", i.e., repeat the question to the questioner (as one understands it to be posed) and think about the response while repeating the question. That should give sufficient time to think about the reply (even if a couple seconds of pondering are STILL necessary thereafter). And NEVER use UM, or UH, while giving an answer to subsitute for speaking while thinking about what one is going to say next (while a response or reply is being given).
Most people are self concious respecting the issue of "pregnant" pauses, so they have this need to fill them with something, anything, so the listener knows they're not done talking.
Nonsense, never accept a rebutall until one's finished making their point or rebutal.
Anyways, my point is that speakers who use UM or HH to grimace proportions are either afraid of being out chess-matched by a 4 Y/O having no officers, or are totally disengenuous and are dancing around in a mine-field trying to finger out how to tell you what you want to hear.
Think about it:
"You, um, should, well, I, you, uh, uh, go, I, uh, well, listen, its not like that, in fact, well, uh, should go, in a way, uh, well, hell. To hell that is, I, I, don't uh, think that's a complete lie."
Contrast such a NoBamessiah statement with what any rational person would say in a pique of anger, albeit anger can not be construed to be a "rational" state of mind. Sincerety is not the issue here, who's being more forthright? Does such a thing matter with respect to a leader? Does such qualities matter to foreigners who are culturally and idiomatically inadept?
Which brings me to the perfect opportunity segue into an excellent digression: Never, ever, under any circumstances whatsoever (under penalty of death), argue with an irrational person. Emotionally irrational people are NOT listening to one's reply, but are thinking about their next blast in an ongoing diatribe.
