Asking for some opinions on some hot sauces, feedback, etc. (Vanity)

I'm getting some hot sauces shipped to me over the next couple of days, and wanted to get some opinions from folks who have either tried them or in some ways experienced them.

One set I'm getting is from Dave's Gourmet, i.e. the guy who created the "Insanity sauce" and the "ultimate insanity sauce". The batch I'm getting is the spicy 6 pack which is Roasted Pepper & Chipotle Sauce, Roasted Garlic Hot Sauce, Scotch Bonnet Sauce, Insanity Sauce, Cool Cayenne Sauce and Hurtin Jalapeno Sauce.

Has anyone here ever tried any of these sauces and does anyone have an opinion on their quality, taste, flavor and heat?

The other batch that I am getting is from Blairs.

From them I am getting the "super 6 pack" which is the Death sauce, the Muerte sauce, the After Death sauce, the Jalapeno Death sauce, the Sweet Death sauce And the Sudden Death sauce and also, I'm getting the soon to be discontinued Jersey death sauce.

I'm aware that buying products that imply impending doom or shortening of life, may not be the best consumer decision.

Has anyone tried the Blair hot sauces, and have any opinions on them, either on their flavor, or heat or anything?

Its the other more serious sauces that I am wondering about.

A lot of the sauces have some kind of gimmick and you have to love some of the names. But for myself I try a lot of them. In my house you can usually find 20 to 30 bottles of different varieties. I try them all.

I agree with the posts here about flavor. Just hot won't make it on my list it has to taste good. Having said that, as you get used to the heat you find the flavor in hotter and hotter sauces. I also don't like a lot of vinegar which is why I don't like Tabasco.

I'd have to say that the freepers have a great list and all that were mentioned are on my top list

I also tinker with making my own. However, I'm most famous for my habenaro Vodka extract for Bloody Marys

I use the Blair essence (sparingly) in certain recipes where I don’t want to add any flavor from the sauce but want to add a little heat. I also have a low serial number Blair 2am that sit’s on the shelf for conversation. As you noted it doesn’t have any flavor and should NEVER NEVER NEVER be used anywhere close to straight. It will do physical damage to you. I always use gloves when handling my open bottle.

I watched it again. You gotta love a commercial where we get revenge against the mosquito. I’m one of those mosquito magnets who’ll have five bites when everyone else hasn’t gotten bitten yet, so that commercial is especially enjoyable for me. :)

“To each, his own, I guess. I’ve heard people say it is pefect for wings, but I still have to pour Tabasco on wings prepared with Frank’s Red Hot to get any taste. It is entirely possible that my taste for spicy food has deadened certain taste buds.”

Who knows? Frank’s, however, is THE sauce used in the original Buffalo wings. I like that taste. You obviously want something hotter, as I do sometimes.

I'd have to say that the freepers have a great list and all that were mentioned are on my top list Marie's (first experienced in Belieze) Scorned Woman (this was my)first real hot sauce love) Dave's (any variety) Blair's (one of the most respected) Tobasco (not on my list but still a favorite of most and ssometimes the only thing you get) Cholulu (this is my low heat favorite and the one I use for guests) Barbados Yellow (not a brand. I am totally out and can only find this when I go to the island I usually bring home my limit. I need a vacation but with gas prices I doubt I could afford the airfare :-(

Have you tried the various dave and blair sauces?

I know Blair is hot and I've heard god things about them, but most of it is about the signature hottest of the hot stuff, I'm curious about the other sauces and their flavors.

I'm also curious about Dave's other sauces, Have you tried them, and what did you think?

How are Blair's other hot stuff, the sauces?

I'm really curious, I'll probably wind up experimenting a good bit, but I'm trying to get a feel on what kind of flavors they are...since all the names just have variations of the word death.
