Petition Provokes Environmentalist Outrage
AZCONSERVATIVE ^ | 25 May 2008 | John Semmens

Posted on 05/26/2008 9:50:45 AM PDT by John Semmens

The Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine’s announcement that 31,072 U.S. scientists have signed a petition challenging the assertion that humans are causing, or will cause catastrophic global warming, has sparked outrage among fanatic environmentalists.

Even though many eminent scientists are among the petition’s signers, the Institute is being denigrated as “an obscure group” and has been mockingly labeled the “Oregon Institute of Science and Malarkey.”

“Who has ever heard of this outfit?” international environmental expert Al Gore jeered. “The idea that these ‘flat-Earthers’ merit a hearing is ludicrous. I have a Nobel Prize for environmental science. I think most people would agree that pretty much settles the issue of who is worth listening to.”

Presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama (D-Ill.) left no doubt on where he stands in this controversy. The Senator promised to institute regulations that would limit travel, restrict diets and control indoor thermostats. “The notion that many Americans have that they can go where they want, eat what they want and pump-up the air conditioning is irresponsible,” Obama declared. “It’s an insult to other countries. I won’t allow it.”

Obama said Americans’ “profligate waste will come to an end under my administration.” The Senator said he hoped to take guidance from former president Jimmy Carter’s “visionary appreciation of the limits we must impose on ourselves for the sake of the greater good of humanity. These global warming deniers will not have the last word on this. They will be dealt with, harshly if necessary, if that’s what it takes to bring them around.”

Here is what Al "the Boob" Gore had to say.

That's how my mom reacted. She refuses to believe it because it wasn't covered in the mainstream media.

And how did Al Gore become an expert on anything, has he even worked a day in the private sector?

Those are fighting words. Deal with us harshly? Let him try and he will find out the meaning of harsh. Politicians who do not know their place deserve to be reminded of it. Obama should keep talking about how much he wishes to emulate Carter. If that is his plan then he had better just drop out now.

You just need to start turning people on to the science. It has been covered in the mainstream. I’d direct your mother to sites like www.sciencedaily.com and www.physorg.com. What you find is that when you have the science flowing in with disregard for the media filter you see that it is not as clear on global warming and it doesn’t favor the radical environmentalism that we often are fed through the major networks.

The mainstream media is the last place where one should go for science. They are usually wrong or present issues as settled that are clearly not. They played this same game with homosexuality and reproductive health studies also. Pulling statistics out of thin air or just totally misreporting them with a disregard for the scientific method. Elevating research by activists or fringe experts while disregarding the mainstream.

It isn’t a surprise they are trying to do the same again. It is their standard play book. They can not win on clarity of argument and open debate. So they do as they have in the past they cheat. They have their opponents kicked out of the universities or threatened with allegations of sexism, racism, or the worst one conservatism. They are underhanded hateful ugly troll elites who believe not unlike the fascists of the past that their purity of believe makes any means acceptable to arrive at their goals because what they are doing is for our own good.

I still think this quote captures the sentiment best:

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”

C. S. Lewis

That settles it.
This clown isn't pretending to be stupid.

He is stupid!

The British courts put the lie to that delusion! He "has" a Nobel prize for evironmental politics, not science.
(Where exactly is his Doctoral dissertation?)

I just got a major chill down my back upon reading this. Egads!

The major problem here is that most people who think like my mom does won't be swayed by real, actual science. They dismiss this sort of thing outright because it doesn't agree with their existing worldview. I guess my question becomes... how can you reason with people who are not rational?

I would have some respect if these people could walk the walk instead of just talking the talk.

When I see these people riding to work in childrens wagons, taking a covered wagon on vacation, living in tents, covering themselves against the cold with leaves, etc., then they will be walking the walk.

Till then it’s all BS on their part, nothing more and nothing less.

What is scary is that this satire is so close to things that the Obamanation has actually said that many people who are well read in politics honestly can’t detect the difference...

I didn't read the subtitle but I knew that it wasn't said the way these quotes have it saying. But it was close. :-)

“The notion that many Americans have that they can go where they want, eat what they want and pump-up the air conditioning is irresponsible,” Obama declared. “It’s an insult to other countries. I won’t allow it.”

Al Gore, who flunked out of divinity school only to land on his feet as the High Priest of the Church of the Warming Globe has spoken. Anthropogenic Global Warming ™ is the confluence of religion and politics and the 31,000+ scientists and climatologists who signed the petition are heretics. So sayeth the Goracle. So shall it be.

Beam me to Planet Gore !
