“Who has ever heard of this outfit?” international environmental expert Al Gore jeered.

That's how my mom reacted. She refuses to believe it because it wasn't covered in the mainstream media.

And how did Al Gore become an expert on anything, has he even worked a day in the private sector?

You just need to start turning people on to the science. It has been covered in the mainstream. I’d direct your mother to sites like www.sciencedaily.com and www.physorg.com. What you find is that when you have the science flowing in with disregard for the media filter you see that it is not as clear on global warming and it doesn’t favor the radical environmentalism that we often are fed through the major networks.

The mainstream media is the last place where one should go for science. They are usually wrong or present issues as settled that are clearly not. They played this same game with homosexuality and reproductive health studies also. Pulling statistics out of thin air or just totally misreporting them with a disregard for the scientific method. Elevating research by activists or fringe experts while disregarding the mainstream.

It isn’t a surprise they are trying to do the same again. It is their standard play book. They can not win on clarity of argument and open debate. So they do as they have in the past they cheat. They have their opponents kicked out of the universities or threatened with allegations of sexism, racism, or the worst one conservatism. They are underhanded hateful ugly troll elites who believe not unlike the fascists of the past that their purity of believe makes any means acceptable to arrive at their goals because what they are doing is for our own good.

I still think this quote captures the sentiment best:

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”

C. S. Lewis
