We think, whatever Oscar de la Renta Bridal design Jenna unveils herself in at today’s ceremony , will be a fine choice, but we at The Fashion Time Magazine, believe we have ten other stylish designs, which would have made for a more spectacular selection.
Which of these ten, would you the reader, choose for Jenna to complete her wedding day in sartorial splendor?

Actually Jenna has been a very good model of increasing maturity and serious sense of social responsibility.
She taught preschool, traveled on occasion in a representational role with and without her mother and also with the President, and wrote a book about a teenage mother in Central America living with HIV. Not bad for a 26 yr old. Her twin Barbara spent some months interning at an AIDs orphanage in Africa.
Both the twins matured a lot since graduating from undergrad and both are on paths to work as advocates in socially responsible roles.
I think you can probably compare their lives and roles to 28 yr old Chelsea Clinton’s public behavior while a grad student at Oxford, and to her chosen career path with a NYC hedge fund. John Edward did say that hedge fund managers are really altruists dedicated to making the world a better place. Time will tell.
And I think it is lovely she is being married before a limestone altar constructed by her father with his own hands. I do not think the Lord disapproves of men building altars to Him under the open sky, with their own hands. Think I even read about a few who were directed by the Lord to do so!

I too got married before brides started wearing gowns that showed what only a husband should be able to see. Her mother calls it the `bath towel’ look.
We joked for years that these strapless brides must all belong to the NRA because they believe in the right to bare arms.
Anyway, I agree, leave Jenna alone. The paparazzi sure won’t. And I’ll bet she defied convention and wore a modest gown.
As a woman who was married in a huge Church wedding and the mother of 4 girls who made their First Holy Communion dressed in beautiful white dresses and veils (I know, how shallow of me) and had huge parties afterwards, I can’t wait to shop for wedding gowns with my daughters.
Someone feed those poor starving models.
War, people dying in Burma, education probs, the price of gas...sigh. Sometimes its nice to take a break and think of something ‘happy’ like a wedding...and a wedding dress. That’s all...a little fluffy cloud on a dreary horizon. I’ll just bet if you go to FR’s ‘search’ box and put in annnnny of those topics...you’ll find a thread (or three) to discuss the problems of the day. Me, right now...I’m liking the Oscar deLa Rentas...

Just as an aside...I read that Jenna's 'attendants' (Barbara being her Maid of Honor) were wearing different dresses (that flatter the wearer) in 'Texas wildflower colors.' Do you remember the 'rainbow weddings' of the 80s? The ones where each bridesmaid (and her groomsman) wore a different pastel color...so when whe all lined up we looked like sherbert run amok? I was a 'professional' bridesmaid for a while, and when my daughter was little she played dress up with all those dresses (you know, the ones 'you can get shortened and wear again!). I missed my chance...I could have written "27 Dresses."

I guess we'll all know tomorrow. And I agree with Pennsylvania Mom. I'm not really interested in fashion and have never understood why people like to watch strangers' weddings on Lifetime or whatever cable channel shows that stuff, but it's nice to take a break from all the chaos and just focus on the frivolous now and then.
I have vowed during my vacation to only read light and fun books, watch movies of the same genre and just keep one eye on the war for situational awareness purposes.

I call it the ‘I Love Lucy’ syndrome. Really...when bad things happen in the world and you are channel surfing to see which network has the ‘updates’ and you catch a rerun of Lucy (or something like that) and you just kinda ‘stop’ because its good not to over load on the bad news...and just watch those chocolates speed down the conveyor belt to Lucy and Ethel :)

I guess I'm getting old. I see these strapless gowns and just don't know what people are thinking. It would never occur to me to wear a strapless gown in a church, synagogue, whatever. Maybe all these women are getting married in hotels or the backyard?

You're right, I am. LOL I'm just concerned that we aren't looking out for our best interests, but Miss Bush should be able to have her special day without my two cents worth.
