Should cities have the right to ban political parties? Cities or states *might* have the power to ban political parties. No protection for them in the Constitution. Ban in the sense of taking away any official recognition. No primary election accommodating, no "straight ticket" option. No "majority leader" or "minority" leader in the legislature/council, ETC.
Might be a Good Thing.
But they could not ban the association of people into parties, that's protected under freedom of assembly (and in some cases petition) under the first amendment. The various governments also do not have the power to prohibit political parties, or any other group, from political advertising, despite what McCain-Fiengold says.

I can’t believe the number of people who say yes.
Unreal.
Cities shouldn’t ban guns. If someone doesn’t want them they should just not own one. But don’t tell anyone else what they should do.
