Should cities have the right to ban political parties?

Cities or states *might* have the power to ban political parties. No protection for them in the Constitution. Ban in the sense of taking away any official recognition. No primary election accommodating, no "straight ticket" option. No "majority leader" or "minority" leader in the legislature/council, ETC.

Might be a Good Thing.

But they could not ban the association of people into parties, that's protected under freedom of assembly (and in some cases petition) under the first amendment. The various governments also do not have the power to prohibit political parties, or any other group, from political advertising, despite what McCain-Fiengold says.

Tulsa is infected with liberals. Sometimes I wonder how Jim Inhofe ever got elected mayor of Tulsa years ago (’78 to ‘84)

“Should cities have the right to ban honest citizens from having guns, so that only criminals have them?”

There, fixed it.

Still the same at 2:30 PM

Looks like at least 57% of the people put some value on the end Amendment.

Only 58% "no". Could use a lot more freepin'!

FREEP THIS POLL ***PING!*** FRmail me if you want to be added or removed from the Fearless Poll-Freeping Freepers Ping list. And be sure to ping me to any polls that need Freepin', if I miss them. (looks like a medium volume list) (gordongekko909, founder of the pinglist, stays on the list until his ghost signs up for the list)

I can’t believe the number of people who say yes.

Unreal.

Cities shouldn’t ban guns. If someone doesn’t want them they should just not own one. But don’t tell anyone else what they should do.
