Political Rollar-coaster Ride

Politically, we're in for one heck of a ride, one which everyone has no choice but to be on, with no safety features built for our own protection, and half the time we are in the dark. No telling what's coming next.

Since last Summer, I had an extraordinarily strong sense our economy was going to be a major factor in the elections this year. Now the question isn't if the economy will be a factor, but how much so.

If McCain wins the Republican nomination, he loses in the General Election. While he would travel the nation talking up the war in Iraq and fighting terrorism, too many Americans will be concerned with matters much closer to home. So Clinton or Obama wins, ... Well not so fast...

Speaking of closer to home, economic matters are going to put a new wrinkle on the face of the illegal immigration issue. Throughout history, when tough economic times strike, the native population always, ALWAYS, moves against outsiders first. A person can't get much more of an outsider label than being here illegally. On this, McCain, Clinton and Obama would be promoting positions in direct contrast to Americans facing bad economic times.

This is going to be a white-knuckle ride folks. People that do not identify themselves as conservative will be voting what they know to be American values and swell the conservative ranks, if a conservative candidate, strongly opposed to amnesty for illegal aliens, is on the ballot. For many people, this is going to get very personal.
