Duncan Hunter is a good man, a true patriot and a very conservative Republican, although not a small-government, new federalist one. He's still a much better choice than Rudy McRombee, hands down.
I'm a Fred Thompson supporter, but I nevertheless like and admire Hunter. Oh sure, I have a few nits to pick with the man. His less than sterling attendance record in the U.S. House is one. His voting record on fiscal issues is another. Finally, his opposition to free trade is a non-starter for me, although those with a more populist bent will see it as a big plus. However, Duncan Hunter may have more expertise on military matters than anyone else in Washington, D.C. That's why I believe he would be an outstanding SECDEF in a Fred Thompson administration.
I'm not exactly sure why, despite being in the race for the GOP presidential nomination for nearly a year, Hunter has failed to gain traction as a candidate. Perhaps his campaign has not served him well. Perhaps the media hasn't given him enough "face time." Or perhaps some of his more zealous backers are having the opposite effect on his campaign than the one they desire.
That's why this one goes out to those Duncan Hunter supporters who have felt the need to bash Fred Thompson on the political discussion forums, especially on FRee Republic and more especially on the Fred Thompson threads there:
Blame Fred ThompsonMy apologies to the writers of South Park.
(to the tune of Blame Canada)
Times have changed
FReepers are getting worse
They wont obey their betters
They want to put Thompson first!
Should we blame Club for Growth?
Or blame NTU?
Or should we blame Tanc and the Huckster too?
No, blame Fred Thompson
Blame Fred Thompson
With all their beady little eyes
Those Fredheads are so full of lies
Blame Fred Thompson
Blame Fred Thompson
We need to form a full assault
Its all Fred Thompsons fault!
Dont blame me
For Duncans not made a dent
Hes been running nearly a year
And hes only got four percent!
And our guy Hunter
Should be on everyones minds
But hes lagging so far behind!
Well, blame Fred Thompson
Blame Fred Thompson
It seems that everythings gone wrong
Since Fred Thompson came along
Blame Fred Thompson
Blame Fred Thompson
Hes not even a real conservative anyway
Duncan couldve been a contender ahead in the race
Instead nobody even recognizes his face
Should we blame the candidate?
Should we blame his campaign?
Or the donors who shunned him in vain?
Heck no!
Blame Fred Thompson
Blame Fred Thompson
With his federalist hullabaloo
And that bi*ch Matalin too
Blame Fred Thompson
Shame on Fred Thompson
For...
His race we must stop
His dash we must bash
His campaign and run
Must all be undone
We must blame him and cause a FReeper fuss
Before somebody thinks of blaming
uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuus!!!!
SABAZZ!
I wonder if I started to file a complaint every time someone offended me if policies and traditions would be changed and I would become an overnight rock star???
If any of the rats had said this there would have been fawning 24/7 coverage of the remark for a month.
GO HUNTER!
Where do these complaints get filed? I’ve several I would like to submit. :)
Ah, looks like I missed all the fun. Fred supporters are beginning to sound like Paulites. They can’t win on the record so they lie to try to damage a good candidate. Duncan Hunter is the only (R) I will vote for. And yes, if any one else posted a made up hit piece on Fred like this, we’d all be booted out of here.
Politics has never been fair, and rarely the best candidate is elected and evidently that’s they way it’s going to be this time.
So long America! You don’t deserve good leaders, you need to settle for more of the same.
I’m not giving up yet.
“Im not giving up yet.”
No, no way will I give up either. That’s the intent of distorted threads like this one. If they can’t marginalize a good candidate as they’ve tried to for a year, they just out and out lie about him. I just feel sorry for them that they’ll sell out so easy instead of really thinking about the country first. But that China money keeps them in line. To many $500 worth of Wal mart stock is sufficient. The truth is, these types don’t want a candidate who might interfere with their cheap labor, cheap imports, to hell with the USA agenda.
I wish they’d just admit it.
pissant wrote: “Hes running for President.”
He is? With four percent or less, he’s not doing a ver good job of it.
pissant also wrote: “How much has Tanc and McCain missed?”
Nice attempt at deflection. Won’t work.
upsdriver wrote: “To me, Thompson is no better than Romney or Guilianni.”
Demonstrating that you don’t what what you’re talking about.
pissant wrote: “Do you know why his scores went down with the NTU and Club for growth? Massive defense cuts. Hunter opposed.”
I call BS.
What did the pork-laden 2005 Highway Bill Hunter voted for
have to do with defense cuts? How about the Flake anti-pork amandments? No Child Left Behind? The 2003 Medicare Drug Benefit?
Another attempt at deflection gone wrong. You’re slipping, pissant. That little “vacation” seems to have put you off stride.
papasmurf wrote: “Your man has no public ‘face’, lacks ‘fire in the belly’, doesn’t really want the job, and is a big fat goose egg in the polls.”
Hunter is NOT a goose egg. Why, I’ll have you know that he’s quadrupled his numbers - from 1% to 4%. Give him ten more months, and he maight just get up to 8%. LOL!
bump

Which, according to the link, is “Poor relative to peers.”

That’s the spirit! Rudy McRombee say, “Thank you very much.”
You just listed some ‘issues’. Now, show us where Fred wouldn’t have voted the same way. They were republican bills, signed by your republican president. Show us where Fred is against them.
Heck, Rudy even tried to pay me to give up :P
Mission Statement:
Vets for Freedom is a nonpartisan organization established by combat veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Our mission is to educate the American public about the importance of achieving success in these conflicts by applying our first-hand knowledge to issues of American strategy and tacticsnamely "the surge" in Iraq. We support policymakers from both sides of the aisle who have stood behind our great generation of American warriors on the battlefield, and who have put long-term national security before short-term partisan political gain.
Vets for Freedom is the leading voice representing troops and veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan.
Folks need to check out the sources they use. When you examine their missions and actions, we are seeing the VVAW all over again.
I suppose any sleaze ball lawyer we could find would do! ;*)
Time to exit before the ban! ;*)
Josh Painter, a poster who has posted nothing in the last year except about FRED and to bash Hunter. A guy who first thought Allen would save the GOP in 2008! You know that George Allen who voted for many of the same things Josh now complains about Hunter. No passion for any issue, just the politics of WIN! In fact when you look at Fred supporters, they’re alot like Rudy supporters. They never cared about open borders, trade deficits, and IMO they’re looking for candidates who never cared much either.
Definition of Josh. To be silly or tease.
Don’t take it too series. Joshing is not hugh.
