President George Bush has repeated his belief all religions, "whether they be Muslim, Christian, or any other religion, prays to the same God" an assertion that caused outrage among evangelical leaders when he said it in November 2003.
Bush made the statement Friday in an interview with Al Arabiya reporter Elie Nakouzi.
Al Arabiya is Al Jazeerah's top competitor in the Mideast.
As the president and Nakouzi walked from the Oval Office to the Map Room in the White House residence, Nazouki asked, "But I want to tell you and I hope this doesn't bother you at all that in the Islamic world they think that President Bush is an enemy of Islam that he wants to destroy their religion, what they believe in. Is that in any way true, Mr. President?"
"No, it's not," said Bush. "I've heard that, and it just shows [sic] to show a couple of things: One, that the radicals have done a good job of propagandizing. In other words, they've spread the word that this really isn't peaceful people versus radical people or terrorists, this is really about the America not liking Islam.
"Well, first of all, I believe in an Almighty God, and I believe that all the world, whether they be Muslim, Christian, or any other religion, prays to the same God. That's what I believe. I believe that Islam is a great religion that preaches peace. And I believe people who murder the innocent to achieve political objectives aren't religious people, whether they be a Christian who does that we had a person blow up our blow up a federal building in Oklahoma City who professed to be a Christian, but that's not a Christian act to kill innocent people.

President Bush worships the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
Islam is the deception of Satan, and Islamics are mistaken about who their god actually is because they are deceived by Satan and his disciple Mohammed.
The God of Abraham is the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ and all of those who place their faith in Him. Allah is NOT Jehovah God of the Judeo-Christian bible, he is a fallen angel masquerading as deity who has deceived billions of Muslims into believing that he is the same deity who Abraham worshiped.
God promised Abraham that he would make his illegitimate son Ishmael into a great tribe, and he did. But he did NOT say said that Ishmael or his progeny would worship Jehovah, and they don't. All of God's promises to Israel and the Church are given in the bible by divine inspiration. Any honest and impartial reader of the Koran will soon realize and admit that it was not inspired by a good and holy deity.
What is he talking about here?
I've never heard this before.
Where is it said in scripture that we are saved by accurate theology? If that was the requirement, none of us would be saved. Salvation is by faith alone, by grace alone, through CHRIST alone.
So, by claiming that Pres. Bush is not a Christian on the basis of incorrect theology indicates the lack of understanding on the part of those who criticize him.
He’s our President, not our Pastor.
Theologically confused.
The problem is - the real danger is - that he is conducting foreign policy based on this misunderstanding.
Just because people think a certain way about a really old book and it says to do cetain things, doesn’t mean that it’s true or that people have to do what the book says... it’s the people.
“When they pray to Allah, they are either praying to nothing, or to God. Which one do you understand it to be?”
Could it be... SATAN
Ok, everybody in the Disenchanted Former Bush Supporters Club make some room. We have some new members joining today.
Isn’t it possible for God to square any circle He wants?
A great many ethnic Jews today are agnostics or atheists who don't believe in any deity at all. But those who do believe in God believe in and pray to the same God that Christians do. They just don't believe that Jesus is the Son of their God or that he is the promised Messiah of Israel.
But when Jesus returns to set up his Millennial Kingdom on earth, the surviving Jews will recognize and accept him as Messiah and will live under his benevolent reign as king of his Messianic Jewish nation for one thousand years of peace and prosperity such as has never existed on earth since Adam and Eve fell from innocence.
It would be better to say something like...’Therefore some religions attempt to and believe they identify God better than others.’
Belief is relative.
(I'm speechless!)
A study on the breath of Elohim:b'shem Yah'shuaAbram became Abraham
Abram became Abraham when Elohim breathed into Abram
the Ru'ach HaKodesh as indicated by the "HEY" at the end of his name.Sarai became Sarah
Sarai became Sarah when Elohim breathed into Sarai
the Ru'ach HaKodesh as indicated by the "HEY" at the end of her name.See the letter : Hey
Ishmael was born to Abram, when Abram was in the flesh, before Elohim breathed the Ru'ach HaKodesh into him.
Isaac was born to Abraham and Sarah after Elohim breathed the Ru'ach HaKodesh into both of them.
There is only one God and He never changes. More inclined to believe that it is mankind's understanding of the nature of God and how He inter-acts with his creature from generation to generation that changes. The God of yesterday's understanding is still valid for those who do not see His Advent[ure] into flesh.
For as it has been written, not one jot or tittle shall pass from the law until all be fulfilled. It is still valid for those who have not experienced the fulfillment or passed from belief into knowledge.
To paraphrase a great truth, 'greater is the law which is written on the fleshly tables of your heart than that which is written on paper. And "Greater is he within you than he who is in the world." (1 John 4:4)
So if the epitome of Christian thought is that God is within us, then to visualize God as an 'entity' somewhere 'up there' or unappoachable to us as individuals, then we are denying the reality of God and the existence of the true dwelling place of God.
The differences in the understanding or perception of God can be seen by how much one distances themselves from the presence of God. And the good news is that God can be as close as you want him to be.
So whether you are Muslim, Jew, or Christian, you can make your own judgements on what that distance is.
But be forewarned. The closer the light, the lesser the false ego with its attendant demands for self-glorification.
(Not trying to be preachy here, but when God is the topic, I would hope all views are acceptable for discourse as long as we are not in the religion forum.)
It's fairly simple...God is not the God of Izlam...That was God's decision...God IS the God of the Jews...That was God's decision as well...
The only way Gentiles (includes A-rabs) can worship God is THRU Jesus Christ...If Izlam has a god who they can worship, it is not the God of the Christian bible...
The muzlims reject the Word of God OF and TO the Jews and Christians because God has rejected them...
They invented their own prophet to replace Jesus...They invented their own god to replace the God of Abraham...
Their God sits in a black stone in Mecca...
We as Jews and Christians pray to the God of Heaven...Muzlims pray to the god of the rock in Mecca, in the east...That's why they must face east when they pray...
Absolutely! Religion is such a funny subject, even here on FR.
IMO, he's not "so right". His constant assertions that Islam is a "religion of peace" are about as stupid as his belief that all religions pray to the same God.
I think many of us mis-overestimated Bush.
I agree. But his mistaken belief about the similarities of Islam and Christianity do indicate that he is an immature Christian who has not been properly taught the fundamentals of the Christian faith. I wouldn't expect any new believer who has been taught by the almost apostate present day United Methodist Church to have a correct view of Islam or biblical truth concerning false gods and false religions.
A mature Christian who has extensively studied holy scripture and has even a rudimentary knowledge of Islam knows that the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ is not the same false deity worshiped by Islam, or that His gracious and loving nature in any way resembles Islam's false god's evil, bloodthirsty, demonic nature.
I wish that Bush had been introduced to the basic tenets of the Christian faith by a fundamentalist bible teacher instead of the UMC denomination's clerics his wife introduced him to. But at least he professes to be a born again Christian, which in the spiritual realm differentiates him from most of his political adversaries.
