Victor Davis Hanson once opined that the war in Iraq could be won in 30 days if all media coverage were banned. The chance of that happening is pretty close to zero (unless, of course, Hillary gets elected).
But there are curious rumblings in the mainstream media. After five years of relentless antiwar reporting, after five years of headlining the mistakes and miscalculations of the Bush administrations, two events last Sunday signalled a possible turnaround in the way the 'mainstream media' covers the war.

They’re up to something.
They’re up to something.
That Hillary is looking smarter and smarter every day, thanks to Big Media.
The NYT has done everything posible to sabotage/undermine this war. Now, they’ll run to the head of the victory parade.

I’ve wondered about this being perhaps the beginning of a media blitz/contrived-change-of-heart to inflate public perception and hope of progress only to slam disappointment upon us on the occasion of Petraeus (hopefully) honest assessment in September, and perhaps going even a step further by claiming whatever was behind this type of article was created and heaped upon the poor then-disillusioned reporters who wrote this stuff as a setup by the administration....
The NYT is merely responding to the drastic drop in readership that continue. The Old Grey Lady is toast.

Going anti-war has never won the democrats a presidental election. Even traitors can ‘act’ patriotic in the quest for the top political offices.
I have thought the same thing. Yet, I am hoping and praying that things are really turning around rapidly.
I wonder what the Bush presidency will look like in the history books if we do turn it around and have success.
“Going anti-war has never won the democrats a presidental election.”
I guess that depends on whether you view the course of events beginning with the 68 Democratic Convention and putting jimmah in office despite the fact that Nixon got us out of LBJ’s Vietnam war as “going anti-war”........granted, watergate was a factor, but it was really just a little political spying of the type committed by both parties, taken and hyped to the nth degree with the specific goal of a Democratic win.
“I wonder what the Bush presidency will look like in the history books if we do turn it around and have success.”
I happen to fear what “history” Bush’s administration will leave behind....most of it will occur between now and noon on Jan 20, 2008, as we have only seen glimpses and previews of it to this point. And I say this out of concern for a variety of reasons independent of “Iraq”, which to a very large degree has over-ridden the spotlight shining on Bush’s OTHER actions re NWO, NAU, anti-sovereignty, “ROP”, 3rd world invasion of our country, etc, etc. If we’d never gone into Iraq, I’d STILL be VERY nervous. Based on this...IMO Bush is presently running neck to neck with jimmah, and when all is done he may well have done more to harm our future and way of life than jimmah.......JMO, of course.
Thanks for the response. It’s always been my perception that neither Vietnam or Watergate per se cost the Republicans the 76 election. IMO it was a combination of the perception that Ford was lack-luster and that he was the only president to not have been elected as president or vice-president. He was essentially appointed by Nixon to be president and that didn’t sit well with the public. Carter, an unknown was basicly seen as honost and not the fraud he actually was. Today we see his true colors.
I discount Watergate and the war because I think the right Republican with carisma could have beaten Carter, himself a dull personna.
I wrote “noon on Jan 20, 2008”
should be 2009, sorry
Also, they might be sensing the anger Americans feel as these lazy journalists undermine our men and women in uniform as they aid the murderous enemy. Enough anger from citizens and these journalists are realizing they may have to pay for their actions. I know it makes my blood boil watching these enablers of murder get our soldiers killed by their words and actions. We have their names, their statements are on public record. We know exactly who is undermining the United States of America and enabling killers to continue their reign of terror around the world. They should be very afraid for their carrers and their citizenship, they have turned on the forces of good, and aligned themselves with the vicious forces of pure evil. They are truly the enemies of liberty and justice. Their judgment is coming, and they know they are wrong, their reputations are doomed. Tick, tick, tick leftist scum! Justice is coming!

Agreed. The media to this day still tries to act like Vietnam was Nixon’s war.
When Nixon came to office there were over 500 thousand troops there.
Today we have about 160 thousand in Iraq.
