Going anti-war has never won the democrats a presidental election. Even traitors can ‘act’ patriotic in the quest for the top political offices.

I guess that depends on whether you view the course of events beginning with the 68 Democratic Convention and putting jimmah in office despite the fact that Nixon got us out of LBJ’s Vietnam war as “going anti-war”........granted, watergate was a factor, but it was really just a little political spying of the type committed by both parties, taken and hyped to the nth degree with the specific goal of a Democratic win.

The strategy is quite obvious:
Republicans in charge, war is lost.
Democrats in power, war going well - victory in sight.

That’s never stopped Dems from being anti-war. Ever since Vietnam,it has been an ingrained and inflexible article of faith...
