As more and more of his potential supporters learn about Fred Thompson's choice of open borders advocate and pro-Islamist ex-senator and lobbyist Spencer Abraham as his campaign manager, Thompson's luster as th egreat GOP savior has begun to dim precipitously.
Latest to weigh in are Dymphna at Gates of Vienna, Elaine at Aaron's Rod ( who removed all the Blogs For Fred links to her site) and Deb at Right Truth.
And Michelle Malkin also did a short bit with Laura Ingraham on her national show.
As I said in my piece, no one who's serious about winning the War Against Jihad would want a tool like Abraham anywhere near him.Either Thompson was ignorant about Abraham's background, which means he lacks the judgment to be president, or he knew about it and appointed Abraham anyway...which means that no one who's serious about fighting this war or controlling the borders should remotely consider supporting him.
I think we're done with stealth candidates who talk the talk but don't walk the walk.

My husband is not a wonk...he doesn’t read Free Republic, he does usually listen to Rush for at least an hour.
When he wakes up, I intend to ask him if he’s ever heard of Duncan Hunter.
I’m willing to bet the back 20 acres that he has not.
That’s Duncan’s big problem.
I’m for Fred.
“But whining to campaign headquarters...”
It wasn’t a whine, it was I wanted to know where he stood. I like to find out things for myself instead of relying upon secondhand information. My primary isn’t until May, so I don’t think that will be a change unless Fred doesn’t run, but it will make a difference as to donations.
Fred gave a good interview to Sean Hannity on this very topic as Sean asked him a question about it. I liked his answer, he was right. It’s on YouTube. Hunter’s interview was also good, but Fred addressed this question in his own unique way.
Exactly. For some reason, they all want the run to be between Rudy and Hillary.
I still can’t understand why the MSM and talk radio (Hannity) are pushing this. Someone enlighten me why they are so obsessed with Rudy ??
>When he wakes up, I intend to ask him if he’s ever heard of Duncan Hunter. I’m willing to bet the back 20 acres that he has not. That’s Duncan’s big problem. I’m for Fred.<
LOL! Another concrete and substantive reason to be for Fred. (Slowly shakes head, and walks away smiling).
As I said before, pearl, we’ve both got to do what we’ve both got to do. May the best man win. :)
They certainly have the same talking points down:
"Only __________ can BEAT Hillary! YOUR candidate will NEVER be elected, so you HAVE TO support OUR guy or Hillary will win!"
"Obviously, you FEAR _________" (whenever someone posts an unpleasent fact about their candidate they can't refute... see the Democrat line "You QUESTION his PATRIOTISM" for simular empty tactic)
"______________ is the MOST CONSERVATIVE person running who can crack higher than single digits!"
"This is ANOTHER shameless hit piece from the Paulites! Tell Ron it's not working!"
"That is a LIE. This organization purposely skews votes to put him in the worst possible light!" (whenever his actual voting record is posted and they can't refute it)
"He is an ALLY who agrees with us 80% of the time! There is NO perfect candidate. We have to work with what he have." (meanwhile, they visit a Jon Kyl thread and denounce Kyl as an evil RINO traitor for only voting their way 99% of the time instead of 100%)
Abraham's obviously an open borders loon, which apprently has been a deal breaker with some people, though I don't see it as Armageddon since Abraham is not going to Fred's public policy adviser. I'm more concerned about Fred's record on immigration than his campaign staff. I also think the "Abraham is an Islamic plant" stuff is dumb when the guy is a lifelong Christian and his whole family is Christian, and he HAPPENS to be of Arabian ancestry. That's like saying all German Americans must be NAZI sympathizes, and it smacks of racism to me.
That being said, I ruled out Fred as a possibility for my primary vote months ago, and for vastly different reasons. I didn't know much about Fred, other than he was a charismatic conservative former Senator from Tenn. with a Hollywood acting career, but then I looked at his "record". Fred has many of the same traitors his supporters are constantly denouncing McCain and Romney for doing.
The crazy thing with the Fredheads is they have absolute vitorial towards any current member of the Senate who aligns themselves with McCain, so much so that they want Lindsey Graham drawn and quartered for treason, because he voted with McCain on a handful of controversial issues. Yet somehow, when it turns out Fred was just as much a McCain cheerleader when HE was in the Senate, they'd convinced themselves it doesn't matter. Fred's lifetime "conservative" voting record is to the LEFT of Graham, but somehow in their twisted Psyche, they'd decided Graham is unfit to hold a Senate seat, while Fred's "record" is just fine and dandy for being leader of the free world.
I will never figure out how they justify this position.
FREDHEAD LOGIC:
McCain's buddy #1, 91% conservative = homosexual RINO traitor, Hillary has his FBI files.
McCain's buddy #2, 86% conservative = conservative patriot, savior of the GOP, Ronald Reagan reincarnated.
Riiiiiiiiiiiiight.
The fact is, the supporters of every leading candidate have to spend a lot of time on defense -- their candidates have a lot of people gunning for them. Can you think of one political candidate in history who has not had to fend off political attacks?
There's plenty of Hunter baggage out there -- just google "duncan hunter" and "corrupt" if you want to get an idea of the attacks Hunter would be fending off if he were in the lead. Hunter's a good candidate, and there are plenty of reasons to support him (depending on what your priorities are)...but implying that he isn't carrying a lot of baggage that he would have to defend were he a frontrunner is disingenuous.
Well, your posts are really helping the Hunter campaign. Keep it up! /sarcasm off
“...Abraham has not been appointed to a post where he has any influence over foreign policy”
Funny argument in favor of a jihadi!
my husband worked on the Hill a number of years ago. about 6 mo ago when i asked him about Duncan Hunter [i had not heard of him] he said, he’s got NO chance. i’m betting your husband hasn’t heard of him either. my brother and SIL, both conservative but not all that political, certainly have not.
Yeah, Mr. “you’re a homo”. Buzz off.
The latest is “you’re making your candidate look bad”. And they think they are doin Fred a ton of favors. LOL
er....I was just starting my 1st cup of coffee. In post #312 that was supposed to be “FDT” [really, it is] not “tFCT.” Sorry—
Yep, it’s interesting. Fred’s the Golden Boy...for now. Enjoy.
