If you listen to callers on talk radio shows across the nation, you have a good feel for the negative response of the conservative base to being force fed this immigration amnesty bill. Many Americans feel that GOP members in Washington, from the President down to the lowliest freshman, have lost touch with their constituents and do not care about their opinion. There is one way to get their attention, however, and that is and always has been money.
I have personally told RNC fundraisers why my check book is closed, sent back their mail solicitations with notes on why my check book is closed, and have sent emails directly to the chairman telling him why my check book is closed. Apparently many other registered Republicans have taken similar action and it is being noticed:

Nice
IMO, if the bill for immigration passes in amnesty fashion, not only will Republicans lose most all funding, but they will lose all power IMO for at least 20 years.
Keep in mind, not only do Republicans get to cut off all their own funding and support, but as these immigrants get to vote, they will mostly vote all Democrat.
In addition, the newly made legal ones will mostly all go on welfare since business seems to want to pay lower wages to illegals. So all we do is create a new wave of illegals to hire and we may be seeing an end to the Republican party.
They need to wake up, because the party (literally) is almost over.
Unfortunately I don't have much hope if this passes the Senate. With the democrats in control of the House they can ram through anything they want and will do so. When it gets into conference committee that is when you'll really see the store given away. The post yesterday by Hugh Hewitt gives me at least some confidence that the GOP Senators will come to their senses in time.
I also faxed that to the offices of Senator Hutchison and Cornyn. I emailed KBH’s office some links to FR threads and told her staff to check the attitudes of the Republican posters about the amnesty bill. By her last email reply, I think she is finally getting the message.
That is definitely a bleak picture and I know that the few conservatives I know in Illinois echo what you are saying. The conversations are very angry and if this amnesty passes I can see things playing out like you say.
I hope you and Hugh are right, but I don’t have the respect for the GOP members in the Senate; i.e. McCain, Spectre, etc.
That is how to get things done. If enough people get their views accross they will hopefully listen. On the Radio I think only Michael Medved is supporting this amnesty among conservative talkers. Even Rush and Savage seem to be on the same page on this.
Now I tell them that it is being used to learn Spanish.
muy bien ese
IMO, finish the huge wall.
Fine the snot out of employees who hire illegals.
Don’t give American citizenship to babies born here from illegals.
I can see if an illegal marries a citizen for love hanging around.
I can see an illegal getting sponsorship from some employer getting to hang around.
The rest I have trouble with.
Big access to our social funds treasury by these additional folks will sink us.
In addition, they most all vote Democrat all the blindly.
The dumb pubbies don’t really understand or care how bad this is for their political pockets.
My checkbook is closed as well.
***Now I tell them that it is being used to learn Spanish.***
Either that or printing fliers in spanish.
I wish he worked his war support that hard. Heck, I wish he had worked his social security reform that hard.
Even if by chance the grassroots remains motivated to elect Republicans despite the massive sellout the demographic trends are not good. Amnesty means the GOP becomes a permanent minority for decades to come. I hope the cheap labor was worth it to them...
Immigration is an obsession with Bush. From the day he got in amnesty was at the top of his agenda.
What I don’t buy is that “they do jobs Americans wont do” line. If we kicked all able bodied americans off social programs they would do the jobs out of necessity.
thanks
