Some say that we as a nation have have turned our back on the absolute and exclusive authority of Christ over our religion by allowing Congress to assume jurisdiction over the things that belong to God by making the law that put "In God We Trust" on the nation's currency. Some say that by merely using U. S. Currency we have converted to the religion of the Antichrist. I am not sure the argument is sound, but I can't find the fallacy. Can someone enlighten me?
It's easy to sit here in my air conditioned office and say that I'd spit in their eye and tell them to go to hell.
However, I know that in reality, I'd probably go along with it to save my skin. If I could think of some clever way to let people viewing the video that I was being coerced, I'd do that.
If I truly believed that they were going to kill me anyway, perhaps I'd do it differently.
Who knows? I don't think anyone really knows how they'll react to deadly circumstances until they've actually been through it.
I'm partial to h.
I'd pick (a).
I'd show them some card tricks and show off a transistor radio as my magic voice box, and then become their fearless new religious leader.
On my own strength, I hope I'd choose A. With God's strength, I KNOW I'd choose A.
Combination of e and i. Tell them what they want to hear then after release publicly taunt them with the fact that I lied to them...after all to them lying in the furtherance of their goals is acceptable, so turnabout is fair play!
Die fighting BEFORE I'm captured. I rather be shot than convert or participate as guest of honor at a beheading video.
I'm a born-again Christian and I believe I will go to be with Jesus at the time of my death .. I'm 58 years old and my wife died two years ago .. my only connection to this world is (are) my children .. all of whom are also saved (born-again) and have a like mindedness as mine.
They have shown a peace that I believe only comes from the assurance of having a personal relationship with God .. regarding the 'going home' of their mother.
Yeah .. I think I would spit in the muzzies' faces and witness to them about Jesus and His love and saving grace .. over the increasing volume and frenzie of their Satanic chant.
See ya' in Glory kids .. me n' Mom n' Jesus.
e) Forget this 'resist as long as you can' stuff, just do it and get the heck out of there.
One night several years ago, a drunk Moslem holding a machine gun, approached me. I was in the passenger seat of a van with my husband driving and all my children in the vehicle. He demanded to know if we were Christians.
It did flash through my head to say "no."
I did not.
I tried to think how to say yes without upsetting him. I tried to think how to deflect his question.
While I was thinking, my husband started off the van, as the family to whom we were giving a ride had just left the vehicle.
We drove off without me ever giving the moslem man with a gun an answer.
FWIW, the gun was never pointed at us.
Anybody saying "A" as a kneejerk answer is full of it.
Once you have your privates threatened for real you will not be thinking the same.
I for one have no idea what I would do.
If God gives me the strength I would do "A".
In my own flesh I would do what it takes to survive.
I don't think God would hold it against you for "converting" under duress.
The worst thing it is is lying.
Sounds like the question, Do you love your own worldly life more than God? I sure don't...
I will never forget that I am an American fighting for freedom, responsible for my actions, and dedicated to the principles which made my country free. I will trust in my God and in the United States of America.
I'd like to think that I would fight tooth and nail to avoid being captured in the first place, even if it resulted in my death. If captured, I'm not sure what I might do in the face of the torture that would be sure to come. Perhaps McCain could shed some light on this.
The Apostle Peter said he would die before denying his Lord, and look what happened. When Muslims speak of Allah as being "The Merciful," that mercy is contingent upon obedience. When we speak of the mercies of God, however, we should reference the innocent suffering and death of the incarnate Christ on behalf of all people for all time, even those who, out of fear for their own lives, deny Him. It is not our obedience, but His and His alone, that has any value, both now and forever.
Come on. You convert. Get released. Then convert back again. What's the big deal?
