Anybody recognize this weapon. Photo is from Yahoo news today says "older Palestinian militant" blah, blah, blah. Just curious, because it doesn't look like an AK/47 which is pretty popular with the terr*rists, er, uh militants:

Nope, but from the size of the mag, it looks to be chambered in something larger than .225cal; perhaps .308cal?

Dick Cheney in disguise?

Thanks. I looked up the Dragunov on a couple of sites on the net and it looks slightly different. The Dragunov has a very distinctive wooden shoulder stock and grip under the barrel, with a slotted pattern that looks a bit different than the photo. You're probably right, but I was curious to make an identification of where the poor Pali's were getting their weapons and what they could field against the IDF.

More instructive is to look at how they are outfitted. Notice that they aren't wearing knee-pads for enabling numerous quick drops. Notice that they aren't carrying their own water...limiting them to a very narrow local area. Not carrying food, limiting how long they can stay in the field without coming back in.
Not wearing Kevlar. Not wearing helmets. Not wearing goggles (dust in combat is a big deal).
The sniper rifle doesn't have a tripod handy, either.
No face paint. No ghilli suits or camo netting. No night vision.
The kid at the left is in tennis shoes, which only hold up for a few hours of combat.
Like I said: instructive.
You are looking at a picture of cannon fodder. Those men aren't expected to last long.
