It's the Fourth of July and the DUmmies are "patriotically" urging each other to "Put Away the Flags." They are so disgusted with the USA that they frown upon such displays of patriotism. The DUmmies are supported in this belief by left wing whacko, Howard Zinn, as you can see in this THREAD titled, "Put Away the Flags - Howard Zinn." Almost half the replies have been deleted so one can only imagine what extreme anti-American rants were worthy of not even being allowed in DUmmieland. So let us now watch the DUmmies tell each other to put away their flags in Bolshevik Red (but not White and Blue) while the commentary of your humble correspondent, lighting another firecracker beneath the DUmmie pretenses as usual, is in the [brackets]:
Put Away the Flags - Howard Zinn
[Oh, if he said so...we must, we MUST!]
Put Away the Flags
by Howard Zinn
On this July 4, we would do well to renounce nationalism and all its symbols: its flags, its pledges of allegiance, its anthems, its insistence in song that God must single out America to be blessed.
[Thanx Howie for expressing the TRUE feelings of the Left.]
Is not nationalism -- that devotion to a flag, an anthem, a boundary so fierce it engenders mass murder -- one of the great evils of our time, along with racism, along with religious hatred?
[Flying the flag leads to mass murder according to the bizarre Zinnian logic.]
These ways of thinking -- cultivated, nurtured, indoctrinated from childhood on -- have been useful to those in power, and deadly for those out of power.
[Flag flying as indoctrination. Um, can we question your patriotism NOW?]
National spirit can be benign in a country that is small and lacking both in military power and a hunger for expansion (Switzerland, Norway, Costa Rica and many more). But in a nation like ours -- huge, possessing thousands of weapons of mass destruction -- what might have been harmless pride becomes an arrogant nationalism dangerous to others and to ourselves.
[So it is okay for small countries to fly their flags but really horrible for the USA to do it. Meanwhile Zinn slams the USA with not a MENTION of the Islamo-fascists who are truly dangerous. And now on to the FAVORABLE DUmmie reaction to this article...]
I agree w/Howard. The thought of celebrating tomorrow makes me ill.
[Can we question your patriotism now?]
Zinn speaks for me. sadly, this is how I feel this year.
[This is how you feel EVERY year.]
I agree wholeheartedly with Howard! I haven't flown the flag since the psycho illegally invaded Iraq. I fly a PEACE flag ONLY. It stays up until we get the hell out of there.
[I have seen a lot of Pali flags at the "peace" demonstrations to the exclusion of American flags.]
Arrogant nationalism. That's the problem.......it's the sense of entitlement that is destructive.
[Like the sense of entitlement of claiming election victories even when you LOSE?]
You need to read some actual history of the American Revolution. Many of the founding fathers were not Christians. And Americans by and large do NOT trust Bush; alcoholics can never be trusted.
[YOU need to read some actual history of the American revolution. Such as how the revolution started as a protest AGAINST higher taxes.]
NOOOO! That is the worst possible things those of the left could do because it confirms the right's propaganda that the flag is theirs. It's the exact opposite thing those on the left should be doing. Wave the flag, Democrats, wave it proud!
[A pragmatic DUmmie who wants to fool people into thinking the leftists are really patriotic so he supports flying the flag...but only as a cynical PR ploy.]
I have no pride in my country today. I will not celebrate tomorrow in a big way.
[And don't forget to not enjoy the fireworks.]
:) I was wondering about that...was it extra-FUnny, or what?
These ways of thinking... have been useful to those in power, and deadly for those out of power. Unfortunately, in the case of Jimmy Carter, this isn't true.
I watched that one on TV and noted that my parents felt that it was the first time Americans seemed pleased to embrace their national identity since about 1969. Of course we still had to live through the Carter administration...but it seems to me that a sort of national rebirth took place between the Boston Pops concert of July 4, 1976 and the US Olympic hockey victory on February 22, 1980.
While there have been setbacks and growth spurts since, we have not yet sunk to the defeatist depths that seemed so pervasive from the "Tet Offensive" of 1968 (historically more analogous to the "Battle of the Bulge" almost exactly 24 years earlier) until '76.
So, I wanted to go to Boston this year. Today, I'm glad to be here, though I could wish for some who aren't to be here with me; my girlfriend, f'r'instance.
Have a safe and happy 4th, y'all. Today is about Us.
I've never gotten mad at one of these, but this pisses me off. Damn arrogant, vapid losers.
PEACE SYMBOL or NERO'S CROSS: A broken, upside-down cross. To Roman emperor Nero, who hated and persecuted the early Christians, it meant destruction of Christianity. Revived in the sixties by hippies and others who protested nuclear weapons, Western culture, and Christian values, it now symbolizes a utopian hope for a new age of global peace and earth-centered unity. http://www.radioliberty.com/Symbolsandtheirmeaning.html
"Known as the 'peace sign' throughout the 1960's and into the present day, this symbol is the Teutonic rune of death. 1950's peace advocate Gerald Holtom may have been commissioned by communist sympathiser Bertrand Russell to design a symbol to unite leftist peace marchers in 1958. It is clear that either Holtom or Russell deemed the Teutonic (Neronic) cross as the appropriate symbol for their cause." http://www.nisbett.com/symbols/peace_sign.htm
Hmmm... a "peace flag" what a surprise for a DUmmie.
Top 26?
This Zinn character is just another commie. Fug him. Excuse me, I've got to put my flag up.
Such a provocative thread probably got some Freepers to unveil themselves. I was tempted but I am still undercover. But I WON'T do my usual "me too" (which I use to get my props there) on this none!
God Bless America!
...its insistence in song that God must single out America to be blessed. It's always FUnny when DUmmies like Zinn reveal their ignorance about the land they hate: Zinn has obviously never sung a patriotic song in his life. Does anyone know a song called, "God Only Bless America"?
These nouns denote faithfulness. Fidelity implies the unfailing fulfillment of one's duties and obligations and strict adherence to vows or promises: fidelity to one's spouse. Allegiance is faithfulness considered as a duty: I know no South, no North, no East, no West, to which I owe any allegiance.... The Union, Sir, is my country (Henry Clay). Fealty, once applied to the obligation of a tenant or vassal to a feudal lord, now suggests faithfulness that one has pledged to uphold: swore fealty to the laws of that country. Loyalty implies a steadfast and devoted attachment that is not easily turned aside: loyalty to an oath; loyalty to one's family.
allegiance
n 1: the act of binding yourself (intellectually or emotionally) to a course of action; "his long commitment to public service"; "they felt no loyalty to a losing team" [syn: commitment, loyalty, dedication] 2: the loyalty that citizens owe to their country (or subjects to their sovereign) [syn: fealty]
Fidelity
1. Faithfulness to obligations, duties, or observances. 2. Exact correspondence with fact or with a given quality, condition, or event; accuracy.
fealty
n : the loyalty that citizens owe to their country (or subjects to their sovereign) [syn: allegiance]
loyalty
n 1: the quality of being loyal [ant: disloyalty] 2: feelings of allegiance 3: the act of binding yourself (intellectually or emotionally) to a course of action; "his long commitment to public service"; "they felt no loyalty to a losing team" [syn: commitment, allegiance, dedication]

It really just shows their lack of character.
Interesting link about symbols. The last entry had a link to the UN's "United Religions Initiative". Couldn't help but notice this one at their "kid's site".
http://www.uri.org/kids/about_ppp.htm
"The Preamble, Purpose & Principles of the URI
We, people of diverse religions, spiritual expressions and indigenous traditions throughout the world, hereby establish the United Religions Initiative to promote enduring, daily interfaith cooperation, to end religiously motivated violence and to create cultures of peace, justice and healing for the Earth and all living beings."
They also expect this to be taught in schools:
http://www.uri.org/kids/act_trad_charter.htm
We respect the uniqueness of each tradition, and differences of practice or belief.
Snake eaters... beheaders... tree worshippers... they're all A.O.K., but damn that Jesus fellow!
What a thing to teach in schools.
I was reading DU yeaterday. And to the news story that Chavez is urging African nations to resist the US the DUers said, "What's to like about the US anyway?".
A morning emetic.
DU and Howard Zinn--how else to celebrate July 4?!
You're probably right to some extent. Reading some of the non-deleted posts scattered among, or following, deleted posts it would seem some deleted posts were either from trolls or someone expressing pro-American feelings.
If the DUmmies don't want to celebrate our nation's founding, let 'em. And when we mention that as one more fact showing they hate this country, watch their hilarious answers.
Exactly right.
I can usually get a few laughs out of the insane, juvenile ranting on DU. But when I think about the good men and women, some of whom were members of my own family, who died defending that flag and what it represents I tend to become more angry than amused.
Those worthless wastes of skin don't deserve to live in a free country where they can spew their anti-American, unpatriotic idiocy without fear of retaliation, and ONLY because millions of far better people than them gave up their lives or limbs on foreign soil and at sea to preserve that right. If they hate the USA so much I'm more than willing to give any one of them a size 12 boot in the butt to help speed them across the nearest border.
More KOKO! Less DUFU!
