Anonymous Iraqi provides details of Russian and Syrian assistance

Ray: Sammi provides a partial translation of a notebook that appears to be from an Iraqi connected with the former SSO. The Center for Non-Proliferation Studies describes the SSO:

If authentic, this document helps to establish the role that Syria played with Iraq as an arms provider. A lot of people may not realize this but Syria provided Iraq with many conventional munitions before the Gulf War and after. It is a little easier to accept the "Mission Impossible" sounding plot that Saddam moved remaining WMD to Syria if you realize they were sneaking weapons across the border all the time anyway.

When the Anglo-American forces entered one of Saddam’s palaces in Basra everybody remembers this event on TV. The strange thing is that the palace was completely empty save from some chairs, one table and a bed in a room. Where did the furniture go? What about the other palaces especially in Baghdad, (unclear) next to Baiji , Mosul and Al Anbar. Three months before the war the news was coming about trucks loaded with very expensive items (all the world saw faucets made of gold). There was a talk about trucks moving those riches to Syria. Someone who works at Al walid center told me that once he saw 35 private trucks (trailer) that crossed the border to Syria.

Thanks for the PING.

I am having one of those "D'OH" moments where you wonder why that one slipped right by you, escalating to the more dunce-like "DUH" moment. ;^)

Blogger or no, it's a real shame to hide any of these articles on the Saddam papers in one of the other forums. (And meanwhile, many articles on the Duke "rape" case on the main page...)

I have a friend who is in charge of some construction in Iraq. He said that the "Ali Baba" (thieves) litterly tore the tiles off the floors of buildings and then sold them back when we started construction on the buildings.
