Thanksgiving Is Murder: PETA Is At It Again (dems, libs, leftists want your turkey!)

"Thanksgiving Is Murder: PETA Is At It Again", by Lores Rizkalla of 'Just A Woman', http://www.justawoman.org/

Thanksgiving: An American holiday instituted by President Lincoln as a time of reflection, prayer and celebration in thankfulness to God. The tradition is marked by a Thanksgiving feast of which turkey is the featured entree.

PETA is at it again. PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, is out to protect the rights and liberties of all the turkeys whose days are now numbered, as the Thanksgiving holiday approaches.

Their commitment to the turkey is so deep that they willingly use deception and blatant lies to justify this righteous cause.

Their latest tactic involves lying naked outside the Department of Agriculture in order to "remind consumers that an addiction to poultry could lead to a bird-flu pandemic." Protesters' signs will read: "Bird Flu Kills: Go Vegetarian."

Thanksgiving is murder on turkeys," says PETA Vegan Campaign Director Bruce Friedrich. "With fabulous faux fowl, you can give a bird something to be thankful for and celebrate without causing suffering."

I have to start by saying that I actually was a vegetarian for a number of years. I even went Vegan for a few months. If I had my preference (as opposed to what's good for me) all the time, I would drink coffee, eat vegetarian meals and have some form of sugar every day. I would not miss any meat. And, because I did go without beef, poultry or fish for a while, even today I usually have to remind myself that I hadn't eaten some kind of meat in a while and probably should. I never miss chicken. I eat it when there are no alternatives and I'm very hungry.

I say all that to say that unlike many of my conservative friends, I am not a meat and potato, Kill It and Grill It-type eater. However, it doesn't take a meat-lover to see that the PETA stunts are ridiculous, at best. Why do PETA protesters have to be naked all the time? And, do they really think that simulating naked dead people outside of the less-than-popular USDA building is going to sway people from turkey and gravy?

What bothers me the most is that these people, who claim to be committed to the humane treatment of animals, who endeavor to protect the lives of these helpless turkeys, are no where to be found when it comes to the rights and protection of unborn children. How about a commitment to the humane treatment of HUMANS?!

Does anyone take PETA seriously anymore? They strike me as ultra leftist, out-of-touch, self-proclaimed messiahs who simply annoy and get in the way. What will happen when they lie down outside the Dept of Agriculture. They will cause a distraction. They will get some media. Not because of the turkeys but because they're naked. They will slow down traffic. And, everyone planning on having turkey on Thursday will proceed with the plan.

My comments:

While talking to a group of PETA fanatics here a few years ago and I asked them, "What about all the mom and dad bugs you are killing when you drive your car back and forth?", "What about the orphaned baby bugs?" and "What about all their cousin bugs, aunt bugs, uncle bugs, grandmother and grandfather bugs?"

Those questions set them off into a hysterical tirade! It turns out that PETA only likes the 'beautiful' animals according to them.

Come to think of it I've never seen them produce a press release or a commercial against eating bugs, hitting them with your windshield, stepping on them or even burning them with a magnifying glass. What a heartless bunch!

I contract out my turkey murder, usually via the local Safewayleone boys. They're excellent for pig and cow contracts too, very efficient.

I have a great T shirt: "Vegetarian" - Old native American word for 'Bad Hunter'.

I do a "Sopranos" Thanksgiving. I hire a local poultry farm to "whack" a live bird for my dinner. [Full disclosure:When I was much younger (and much stupider) I was a member of PETA for a year or so-concerned about HOW animal testing was conducted]. The Vegan/vegetarian BS, plus the TRULY ,frightening beliefs of those folks got me out of there REAL quick.

If God wanted us to be vegetarians why did he make some many delicious animals?

Would PETA be upset if a lion ate a turkey?

I think PETA goal is that eventually lions and turkeys will live side-by-side in peaceful harmony along with all other animals in the wild.

Well, let them start by having their members live peaceably with the lions! LOL

>>Would PETA be upset if a lion ate a turkey?

Would PETA be upset if a human swimmer were devoured by a shark? Or is it OK for them to eat meat?

PETA has selective compassion, selective conviction and selective commitment.

Nice way to say they are inconsistent and completely hypocritical.

I do not think that the PETA people truly care about animals. I think that a vast majority of them just like to be in the middle of chaos and controversy.
