I didnt catch this story on CNN, and am actually surprised that I have not seen reference to it on Fox News or MSNBC. Okay, I am not surprised I havent seen it on MSNBC. The Pundit Guy did catch it (at LGF) and here is an excerpt from the transcript he posted:
S. OBRIEN: What has Secretary Chertoff promised you? What has Donald Rumsfeld given you and promised you?
NAGIN: Look, Ive gotten promises to I cant stand anymore promises. I dont want to hear anymore promises. I want to see stuff done. And thats why Im so happy that the president came down here, because I think they were feeding him a line of bull also. And they were telling him things werent as bad as it was.
He came down and saw it, and he put a general on the field. His name is General Honore. And when he hit the field, we started to see action.
And what the state was doing, I dont frigging know. But I tell you, I am pissed. It wasnt adequate.

Nagin knows the truth about the Governor, but apparently there was a lot of friction between them before this disaster. She is a total incompetent party hack. And he really dropped the ball in getting the city prepared. BTW, he had a phone!
This is going to get known all over the world.
(It was on our live thread days ago!)
Do you have the levee board loan for the casino? I lost it. I just saw a councilwoman from a district on WWL's live stream praising the mayor (?), she implied without saying when asked about reports of Red Cross and supplies there early being rejected, that it was on Blanco's side, not FEMAs (She was specifically asked if FEMA and red tape kept them from coming in). She also said he set up communications with his amazing (yes, amazing) team the next day. She also said he had buses... three buses (must have been the first tourist buses), when questioned about the bus photos. Unbelievable.
I think Nagin's made a calculation that it'll be easier to shift blame to Blanco then to Bush, and he's probably right. Between him and the administration pushing on Blanco, she's likely to take the fall for this. I'd submit the actual blame is about 49% Nagin, 49% Blanco and 2% FEMA.
Huge. Everyone should email everybody (Drudge, The Corner, Bill Bennett, Tony Snow, Laura Ingraham, Rush, Sean, John Gibson, Larry Kudlow, Brit Hume) AND ANYONE ELSE WHO CAN GET THIS NEWS OUT.
No, I don't have it. Sorry.
First, when do you sleep?
Second, this makes Pres. Bush look better than first described by the "nattering nabobs" but, I am always skeptical of any comments from Mayor Nagin. In the Mayor's reports he is always the hero telling the Pres. how it is and what to do.
Despite his retelling of history, in my mind, Mayoral Nagin was the first and most important domino to fall in this tragedy. He knew better than anyone, not in New Orleans, the dangers posed by the storm and he squandered the available resources to evacuate poor people before the flooding rendered them useless.
In an interview just now on Fox, the governor said "The mauor told me he sent busses into the streets with police escorts and seirns asking citzens to evacuate."
The bus situation has made the main stream.
