A prominent national Islamic civil rights and advocacy group today called on law enforcement authorities to treat an assault this morning on a Virginia Muslim woman as a hate crime.
The Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) reported that a 23-year-old Muslim woman, who is 8 months pregnant and wears and Islamic head scarf, said she was out for her morning walk in Arlington, Va., when three white men in a pick-up truck began screaming anti-Muslim and racist slurs at her. According to the victim, the men shouted, "You terrorist b- tch, go back to your country. . .You n-gger b-tch." (The woman is African-American.)
The truck drove away and then returned as the woman continued on her walk. One of the men, who was wearing military-style clothing, allegedly got out of the vehicle and began shoving the woman and preventing her from moving away. During the assault, he shouted, "You terrorist b-tch. . . We're going to kick you're a- s. . . you're nothing." The other men then called the attacker back to the truck and it sped off.
"We believe these types of incidents are the direct result of the growing level of virulent anti-Muslim rhetoric Americans are exposed to on the Internet, in newspaper editorial pages and on radio talk shows," said CAIR Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper. "Our nation's political and religious leaders must begin to challenge Islamophobic hate-mongers."
It's not a blank check. :)
Denying individual liberty is utterly incompatible with America, whether or not the individual is Islamic.
How, exactly, would you determine this? How does one go around figuring out whether a certain person actually follows the tenets of the Koran to an extent that they're willing to commit acts of violence?
"Then you acknowledge that you're an idiot?"
Another "strawman" to hold up?
Where are your facts?
"People like Modernman and r9eth will facilitate this, and then where will we be?
Liar."
Hmmmm... you call me a liar without any supporting evidence. A personal attack? Oh, that's ok, I know you're just in touch with your feelings. Go lie down sweetie.
Well- that makes two of us in Louisiana! LOL. Thank you!
Don't you just love it when people pull David Duke out of their sphincters in an attempt to insult us?
Duke and his bunch are actually very useful as comparisons here, don't you agree? Implications are that if you are Southern-or from his home state- you are as ignorant and irrationally prejudiced as he. The BIG BROAD BRUSH is liberally applied.
But don't get it out for people who will go berserk if you drop their 'holy' book on the floor- the one with the stuff about killing infidels that they DON'T believe in it! Yeah, that one. Forget that they all REACT the same- just don't treat them that way!
So here's what I've learned from our adversaries on this thread:
The KKK has a history of hating all non-whites and Jews and killing black people- but non-whites, Jews and especially black people are wrong if they suspect, fear and want gone all those who identify with the Klan. Choosing not to deal with any of them- wrong.
Islam has a history of hating and killing all non-Islamics, for centuries. The book that tells them to do this has remained unchanged in all those centuries- but the weapons available to them have improved considerably. BUT- all non-Islamics are wrong to suspect, be wary of, profile, avoid ,fear and want gone all those who identify with Islam.Choosing not to deal with any of them-wrong.
Do I have that right?
"How, exactly, would you determine this? How does one go around figuring out whether a certain person actually follows the tenets of the Koran to an extent that they're willing to commit acts of violence?"
Ask them if they're muslim. If the answer is yes, you know all you need to know.
ETHNICITY ain't got NOTHING to do with it.
Its called getting rid of a demonic murderous belief system.
You wrote:

I will not faciliate any such thing and you have no evidence that I would do so.
So, that makes you a liar.
Great system you have there. Of course, you would only catch the honest Muslims. I doubt Muhhamed Atta would have fallen for such a tactic.
And, of course, that provides no answer as to what you would do with American citizens (especially the native-born) who happen to be Muslim.
"For what it's worth I am not with r9etb all the time, but I am this time."
Well, let me be clear, this debate has evolved. In regard to the article, I would never support assaulting a pregnant woman, period.
But, I am to the point where I feel it's ok to make muslims feel unwelcome. This is a position I've come to after reading their teachings, and seeing their actions.
If you disagree, fine.
It's a LIE. L. I. E. Lie. 100% falsehood. A total lie. Why? Because it's from CAIR. Not only that, but it's from a CAIR press release. There is no corroborative evidence. None. CAIR is a known bunch of anti-Semitic liars and terrorist sympathizers.
It is silly and a bit bigoted to engage in even hypothetical speculation based on this incident.
Now, you might say, "well it could have happened" but that would just give credence to CAIR. If we even entertain the possibility, we just continue the behavior.
Agreed. muslims may be evil, but they aren't stupid.
There are evil muslims, but you have presented no evidence that all muslims are evil. And you would be hard-pressed to present such evidence, because it's not true.
So you are a liar.
They know how to manipulate our systems against us.
So do plenty of non-Islamic people manipulate the system, including just about every taxpayer in the nation. Should "manipulating the system" now be grounds for expulsion?
If they can arrange it so that anything involving a muslim is categorized a hate crime, they can take the offensive without fear.
Of course it will never happen that "anything involving a muslim" is so-categorized. A typical attempt to equate the products of your hyperbolic imagination with alleged "fact," and you've already pointed out the consequences of not knowing real facts.
Imagine, a muslim instigates a fight with you, but you go to jail because it's a hate crime.
Nope. That's not how hate crime laws work. Assault is still assault. Yet another non-fact to your credit. (And need we remind you what you said about people who have a tenuous grasp of facts?)
"And, of course, that provides no answer as to what you would do with American citizens (especially the native-born) who happen to be Muslim."
There is no good solution.
There are what, 2 million muslims here in America? It's impractical to deport them all. I think that this is a pressure cooker than can go one of two ways.
Senario #1. muslims continue to behave as if they are a country within a country. They adhere to their teachings, and treat infidels as non humans. Another attack or two in America, and there will be much bloodshed. Not something I want to see, just stating how I think it could go.
Senario #2. muslims in America need to adjust, and assimilate. Be American. Turn in the terrorists and radicals in their community. Embrace America, don't profess that anything less than an islamic theocracy in America is unacceptable.
I fear #1, but given what I know of islam and the koran, I see #2 as highly unlikely.
My great grandparents were from Poland-Germany. During the wars they made sure to live in strictly Polish neighborhoods and only speak that tongue, rather than any German.
"Agreed. muslims may be evil, but they aren't stupid.
There are evil muslims, but you have presented no evidence that all muslims are evil. And you would be hard-pressed to present such evidence, because it's not true.
So you are a liar. "
Stupidity combined with a personal attack. Saying "muslims may be evil" is not conclusive. There is an article that's missing. Some, or All. You didn't ask, you assumed. I expect no better from you.
"Imagine, a muslim instigates a fight with you, but you go to jail because it's a hate crime.
Nope. That's not how hate crime laws work. Assault is still assault. Yet another non-fact to your credit. (And need we remind you what you said about people who have a tenuous grasp of facts?)"
A simple extension. Generally, when an altercation occurs, the root cause is unknown, unless there are plenty of unbiased witnesses. If the hate crime card is available, would you expect one of the participants not to play it? I guess someone as naieve as you would.
You're getting all emotional. Your gentle constitution can't handle such stress, you really should go rest.
