Leonard Pitts, a noted columnist and a member of the United Church of Christ, now appears to consider himself the printed media spokesperson for this "progressive" denomination. For those not in the know, "progressive" is a synonym for a faith that has the intelligence to move beyond the myths, tales and lies of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and center itself on the teachings of Karl Marx, Sigmued Freud, secular humanism and whatever other false gospel that is currently in vogue.

In an article "second thoughts about the religious right" he deplores this "noxious groups' influence."Mr. Pitts, speaking of Christian fundamentalism, writes that Americans are beginning to have their doubts about this new American theocracy as they look at the theocracies of the Middle East and Africa and wonder if these are models to which we should aspire. Mr. Pitts writes that American fundamentalism is less about faith than intrusion and less about God than power and less about right than self-righteousness. Sought of reminds one of the manner in which those in power in Israel more than two thousand years ago regarded the prophets God sent among them.

Indeed the "progressive" denominations would enjoy nothing more than for the American people to regard blood-washed, born-again Christians as the Jewish nation regarded the prophets sent by God. ...

Once, one of General Washington's lieutenants caught the General alone in the forest. He was on his knees in prayer. After prayer the General arose and said "The smiles of Heaven can never be expected on a nation..."

Thirteen years later President Washington proclaimed in his inaugural address "No people can be bound to acknowledge and adore the invisible hand of God, which conducts the affairs of men, more than the people of the United States."...

I know, I know, it is Government Schools, opps, I mean public schools.

But, if the kids you know, who go to the public schools of Maine, don't know what is in Larry's editorial, than please vote against the school budgets.

Let's cut their funding till they get back to basics.

Wanna see how bad it has gotten in 20 years? Go sign up to substitute teach and when they call you, call your regular employer and take a sick day. Yup, a sick day, for once you see the inside of what's going on in the public school system you are going to be sick to your stomach.

Make sure you bring yur lunch and sit in the teachers room, lsiten but say nothing, just listen.

It was a live link when I posted it and I've used it many times. It is a link to the Library of Congress, which is not working right now, also. (http://www.loc.gov) I'm sure it will be up and running again, so you may want to try later.

It was a wonderful link with many of our founding documents listed and linked which indicate our Christian heritage in the founding of this nation. If you search on "Library of Congress Religion", you should get a return like the following:
