My apologies for posting a premature obituary of Pope John Paul II. I did it shortly after noon last Friday, after I heard it said at Fox that the "Italian media" was reporting the Pope's death. I rushed to my PC and posted my thoughts, which came from the heart. Five minutes later they came back and said that the Pope's death was not confirmed.
Fox was wrong, their sources were wrong, and so was I. I learned a lesson here, and I will not forget it.
Nevertheless, the substance of my post was right on the mark, as well as the prayers for the depature of his soul, albeit 24 hours ahead of time.
I am sorry if I added to the anguish of many by reporting something manifestly wrong. The original post remains published in Vivificat!, now showing the correct date.
We all know you're really a troll that works for CBS. Its ok...
:-)
Hey, I fell for it too, and announced it on a local forum. Don't worry about it.
Even EWTN jumped the gun, and I would have thought they more than anyone would have had the inside scoop.
The best way to avoid a "talking head" post is to find a published news article and post it instead. It's worth the extra effort.
CNN also prematurely declared the Pope dead. Supposedly this was the work of Reuters news service and the Italian media.
