(Warning! Strong coarse language follow)
(Flips the bird) **** Canada!
So Canada joins New Zealand as the biggest free riders of the English speaking nations.
Tossing aside sixty years of common defence of North America they've now refused to join the US missile defence programme.
They'll get the protection for free of course. Like New Zealand they can always rely on a bigger more serious country to do the heavy lifting for them.
It's sickening what's happening to the western democracies. I blame the emancipation of women.
God help us if Australia or the US ever give the girls the vote.
National Post - Canadian rejection of missile defence historic, unpredictable shift

Ping!
Actually, this makes a whole lot of sense.
If I put myself in Canadian Shoes, I spurn the missile shield, vehemently. This does two things. One, if anyone gets an itch in their pants to shoot a missile at my country they make that decision based on a couple factors. First, is Canada likely to shoot at me? No. Second, even if I do shoot Canada will it matter?. Answer again is no.
However, if Canada is part of a missile shield, it becomes a tempting target because, If I hit it, the shield failed.
Canada knows however that the US would never let nukes land on Canadian soil if we are capable of preventing it, so it's a win win. Let the US protect us and denounce it at the same time. If I were a Canadian, this is the position I'd take.
Do Canadians indulge in 'intimate relations' with wooly animals, or is that purely the domain of New Zealanders?
Moose in place of sheep? Or perhaps frogs? ;-)
Can anyone figure out if any similarities between beavers and kiwi birds exist?
I still have to wonder why anyone from NZ/Australia would get their underwear in a knot when this is a Canadian/US issue.
Tough day mate. Australians like to ridicule political idiocy around the world, and countries that take the chardonnays seriously. Just look at the number of New Zealand jokes and you get a picture of what they will do to Canada. If you think Canada-bashing from Americans are too much, wait until you see the merciless Aussie humour.
It is all about appeasing the Frogs. Martin cannot hope to survive another election with his current minority mandate. Canada is a cat and dog country, neither culture really understands the other and the communication divide cannot be overcome with liberal social engineering. Look at England and France, they have existed side by each for thousands of years, invaded each other and traded monarchs. yet are still as different as cats and dogs. Why should it be any different in Canada. Quebec needs it's own national identity and territory, while English speaking Canadians who are basically Americans must re-unite with their southern brothers. English Canada and America are really one people and Quebec is another. Most do not have the courage to admit the reality that a United North America containing an independant Quebec is the only solution to this mess.
What a shameful position to take, speaking as an American. If I was a Canadian, I would be so ashamed of my country! To let a neighboring country do all of the hard work, while you do nothing. I guess if you're a socialist or liberal it would make sense, but in my opinion, it is absolutely shameful.
Or is it frogs with beavers?
This is all getting far too confusing. I liked it when things were simple and we knew what sheep could expect from New Zealanders. Now, they're chasing moose as well?
The Liberal Party of Canada refused to endorse the Iraq war publicly, and then sent the 4th largest contingent into the Iraq theatre - warships patrolling the gulf with the various American carrier groups - also 1200 troops securing a key airfield in the United Arab Emirates from which the AWACs that helped guide in the bombers. That sounds like direct participation to me. Not to mention I'm sure we have far more soldiers participating directly in the action in Afghanistan than we or anyone else has been led to believe.
Don't ever underestimate the Liberals of Canada and their potential for double talk and lies. They are totally involved in the missile program and have been for quite some time, they just aren't saying they are so it doesn't look like they are following George Bush's orders. Believe me, Canada has no choice but to be involved, this is all just political nonsense so the Liberals don't lose the lefty and immigrant votes. Believe it, it's true.
This has got to be poetic justice. NorthOf45 has acted absolutely clueless about how Americans may feel about about "foreigners" coming onto this American site and gettting their knickers in a twist over what Americans may talk about with other Americans about conservatism in America.
But now it's clear that when the tables are turned, NorthOf45 knows exactly how it feels :-) What's good for the goose is good for the gander, eh?
Wrong about me again Sunsong. I have yet to comment to Americans about US Conservatism. Any time I post or correspond, it has to do with Anti-Canadian sentiment or Canada/US relations.
The tables are far from turned. The issue which motivated my response to NZerFromHK can in no way be compared to my posted subject matter here on FR.
Also, according to you, I have "acted absolutely clueless". Can that be qualified as a personal attack? It would in your book if I had stated such about you.
I'm not sure a "fact" is a personal attack. Nor I am sure that saying someone is "clueless" is hurtful.
But I am sure that the tables are indeed turned here. The fact that you are foreigner makes your presence here of a similiar energy to what you were complaining about in another foreigner giving their views on a Canadian issue. That you don't "see" it confirms for me just how clueless you are. It would be nice if you could see that this is just the same thing with the only difference being now you don't like it - whereas before you were perpetrating it.
And your post above does confirm what I have said - that you are not here to further conservatism in American but to defend Canada - doesn't it?
You want to talk facts? OK, someone from NZ commenting on American/Canadian relations on an American forum certainly is different than a Canadian commenting on American/Canadian relations on an American forum.
As for my posting on this forum in the first place, as a Canadian Conservative, I have yet to see any displeasure (except from you of course) in my taking part. Conservatives in both countries should do what they can to form an understanding and learn from eachother. The best relationship between the US and Canada is a united one. As Conservatives, we can work towards that.
Now, if someone flames my country, I'm not going to sit here and take it. I'll present my thoughts to them in a manner that matches their own.
Have you ever visited the Canadian forum at www.FreeDominion.ca? I have posted there for a while and we have many Americans that visit the site and present their thoughts. Nothing is thought of it in the least. I guess it may be different here ... in your opinion at least.
No the truth is that what you are doing butting your nose into an American forum is the same kind of act as someone from NZ butting their nose in on what they think of how Canada treats America or vice versa. It is, to me, poetic justice since you obviously don't care how anyone feels about you butting in here. It seems to me that you look at both instances only from your own limited personal perspective. I find it hard to believe that you do not see what I am saying. But it is fun for me to witness that what goes around, comes around.
I have indeed visted Free Dominion and you can be sure that I would never go onto a Canadian site and lecture Canadians about how they should view America or about their views of America or whine and complain because they paint Americans with a broad brush.
Your silence tells me that you do admit that you are not here to further conservatism in America (the purpose of this site) but you are here to defend America. The best thing that anyone from Canada can do to improve the relationship between America and Canada is to change your government up there. As long as you have an anti-American government - there will be bad feelings and bad relations and no matter how much time you spend here - you won't be able to change it.
You are a broken record that I am tired of listening to.
I do find it revealing that when it comes down to getting into details about what you are doing here and the reality of the anti-American government that you do have in Canada - you don't want to talk about it.
Change your government and you will be surprised at the change in tone about Canada in here.
Well... Kiwi are hairy fruit, and beavers are... Uh... NEVER MIND!!! ;-P
It is always called kiwifruit in this country. ;-)
