Yesterday Congressman Maurice Hinchey (D-NY) hosted a community forum in Ithaca, New York, on The Future Of Social Security.
An LGF operative was present in the audience and happened to be recording as Rep. Hinchey launched into a barking moonbat conspiracy rant worthy of Democratic Underground, telling the audience he believed the fake CBS memos were planted by Karl Rove to discredit Dan Rather, and divert attention from President Bushs draft dodging.
When our operative asked Hinchey if he had evidence for these charges, he first said, Yes, I do, but when asked a second time he admitted he did not.
Our operative pressed the issue, Dont you think its irresponsible to make charges like that? Hinchey replied, No, I dont, I think its very important to make charges like that ... I think its very important to combat this kind of activity in every way that you can, and Im willing, as most people are not, to step forward in situations like this and take risks.
And the crowd burst into applause and cheering.
The Ithaca Journal, a Gannett newspaper (USA Today), ran an article on Hinchey's forum. Predictably, it did not mention one word about Hinchey's paranoid claim.
Nice to know. Wonder which news organizations --- paging CBS, New York Times -- will report on the substance of Hinchey's remarks.
I think each and every freeper ought to send a letter to Hinchey's office, requesting, "under the Federal Freedom of Information Law... all records, documents, reports, or other evidence in your possession leading Congressman Hinchey to state that certain memos aired by CBS News relating to President Bush's National Guard Service were planted by Karl Rove to discredit Dan Rather, and divert attention from President Bushs 'draft dodging'."
We all know they'll have to refuse to provide them, most likely under the admission that no such records exist.
If nothing else, for the price of a stamp (and make sure you use the REAGAN stamp) it'll annoy the hell out of him.
I really wish they would be consistent, is Bush an "EVIL GENIUS" or is he a "DOPE"?
I mean, by making this claim they're essentially saying that Bush (by way of Rove) outsmarted them AGAIN. It's absolutely hilarious how they rant and rave about what a "moron" they think Bush is, but then turn right around and talk about how he's manipulating the MSM. Oh well, at least we're getting entertained.
It's very important to lie like that.
I think its very important to combat this kind of activity in every way that you can.
The ends justify the means. Lie, lie, lie.
And Im willing and most people are not to step forward in situations like this and take risks.
Most people are unwilling to step forward and tell lies.
Congressman Hinchey: I consider that to be part of my job, and Im gonna continue to do it.
He considers it part of his job to tell lies. And he's going to continue to lie.
Vintage Hinchey, all mouth, no brain, leftwing rabid dog.
This is why the country is going down the toilet.
A scene right out of the original "Manchurian Candidtate" movie becomes reality.
Rats and Rather believe the ends justify the means.
It's like that old saying....folks are entitled to their own opinions, but not their own facts.
The left will do whatever it takes to achieve their goals. The problem is, they have no goals other than to be a majority. They have become professional liars and smear artists for reasons they can't explain. They are passing it from generation to generation now, like a genetic defect for which there is no cure.
Your analysis is spot on. The weblogs represent the broad sheets of yeaterday. LGF has an extra advatage in that they have an audio file to go with the written report. Not easily dismissed.
The Columbia J School represents the old world view. It wants to discuss the rules and what is right and proper as well as to determine who can be called journalist. They need to be working on how to survive this information age. The American Spectator did an interesting interview with Tom Wolf in the issue published after the November election that the old media should pay attention to.
Okay, tell ya what, you compose the letter and I will part take.
My skills as poet leave something to be desired when writing political stuff.
