thanks! ...I am working on my PhD too...off to my lab meeting!
hope you enjoy FR. Additionally, here's a great collection of quotations from Thomas Jefferson which I recently found. Quite enlightening and indicative of the roots of conservative thought.

Sue me, but I always had a strong distancing from authority no matter who it was. Maybe it's on account of the fact that I feel my conscience is totally clean and in my view that my ideas are absolutely ethical with no ill feelings towards even the worst of enemies (yes, I'd want them a little dead every now and then, but I'd rather save the amo for the real big enemy). I admit I'm largely anti-social (maybe because what I see around me is not worth my own grandiose value I ascribe to myself), so "what other big names post here" - I can only say that the only big name posting here that I am aware of - is mine.

Are you kidding? I'd give my right arm to work in his stable as a horse manure remover. He is my all time idol. The man was barely 33 when his ideas established this country of ours.

I don't believe in causing harm to anybody. Then be prepared for the other side to do harm to you. They are quiet irrational I'm sure you know.

You're right I should rephrase that into: I don't believe of causing needless harm to anybody unintentionaly (speak softly and carry an armored tank division). My bad. You got me.

If I may add on my post to you.
Lets allow a few cities to get very Liberal mayors, and a few states (Id go for Alaska and Hawaii) go get very liberal governors, so that the contrast between us and them is not so sharp during the next election and so that we dont elect some wussy to lead us downhill. Give them the rights to gay marriage, give them some of what they want (in some limited way), lets not antagonize them too much. In turn lets keep the top clean, sharp, decisive, moral and strong. You realize I'm sure that you are advocating doing the exact thing you critized Kennedy for doing in this next statement...
I thought him a capable well educated man with our best interests at heart, but I feared his being too lenient with Cubans, Russians and feared he would give the whole country away just to avoid some war or conflict for myself, I always felt, Hell if there is gonna have to be a war lets get into it right away and be done with.
How do you reconcile those two statements?

Good point. I did fall into the same trap myself, hey I'm only human and the reason I participate in these posts and boards is exactly finding out what I, at first, fail to see. I still go with poster under the screen name of Monticello, he got me good, nailed me good and corrected me by only 180 degrees. I am a strange bird - I do enjoy being corrected that way the few of my own original ideas get fostered in cement and there is no budging till the day I die - try me on communism (I lived there at one time)
