So here they are: The Reasons for Children of the 80s to Feel Old

______________________________________________________

*While reading reviews about the "Live Aid" DVD on Amazon, I read a comment from a teenager that wrote that it's an ideal gift for his/her parents. And knowing that Live Aid was from 1985.

*Because when I mentioned Hall & Oates to my cousin who is 20 he had NO clue as to who I was talking about. Becauase Bon Jovi, who just came out with "Runnaway" like YESTERDAY -- right? (not) is now over 20 yrs old and considered "Classic." Because "Do They Know it is Christmas" is now 20 yrs old..........................................

Good lord... I'm not usually on the side of Child Protective Services, but their intervention is desperately needed here.

Hey I had a hampster named Mork. I think he drowned or something.

When John Kerry is President, hamsters like yours will never drown again.

I can beat that. I remember walking through the mall one day and recognizing the song being played over the Muzak system as "Hungry Like the Wolf." The catch? It was 1988. They've been butchering music for a long, long time.

(And as a side note, I'm sitting here watching 25 year old episodes of Buck Rogers on my DVD player. I remember it as much less Twiki in it than it actually does. )

I've always heard some of the 80's stuff on classic rock stations which I started listening to more in the mid 90s when I got tired of grunge and wannabe punk(Green Day - puke) 24/7. Tom Petty, Rolling Stones, Ted Nugent, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Bruce Springsteen and Van Halen were common. "Fred Bear" was probably the most played song and that came out in 89.

I did feel old though when I heard Motley Crue, Metallica, Guns N Roses, and the Black Crowes(90s) on the classic rock stations.

It's fine by me.

I stayed home "sick" from school to watch Luke and Laura get married (for the first time) on General Hospital. VCRs weren't around then.

The trippiest (latest) "Oh, the years!" experience was buying the new U2 CD... for my 8-year-old! I was barely in my teens when I bought Boy, and I did not have children young. It's just been well over twenty years. Yikes!

Erin Gray was a hottie, even in those commercials for Bloomingdales. She was even better in Condorman. ;-)

Actually, the pictures of me and my friends weren't too embarrassing. I'd just forgotten about how baggy we all wore our jeans back then. And of course, we all had wallet chains...

Whose the guy on the left?? I don't remember him.

Is he one of those annoying characters they add on at the last season in a desperate attempt to get ratings & save the show?

He couldn't been worse than this annoying kid

The Bad Boys!!! I wish I still had the T-shirt. The most hated team in NBA history by the media - but we had three of the best rivalries with the Celtics, Lakers, and most of all - Da Bulls! Michael Jordan was hated so much here, that the loudest boos at Lions games were when his commercials were on TV. The feeling was mutual as he went on Oprah once just to bash the Pistons. Ironic since Isiah is from Chicago(Aguirre as well?).

As for my fellow Spartan Kirk Gibson - He's now in his 40's, but if it's the 9th inning in a World Series game, I'd still bet my money on him hitting a home run to win the game. 84 Tigers and 88 Dogers.

Although he wasn't a later season add-on, the TV kid I hated the worse was that little fruit Jonathan from Who's the Boss?.

Alyssa Milano more than made up for that fruit though.
