Summing Up

Let's sum up, OK?

In 2000, the Republicans intimidated black voters in Florida and refused to count their ballots so Bush was elected Dictator for Life. Bush appointed John Ashcroft to head up the KGB and threw all dissenters into prison.

No, that's not quite right. The Republicans won in 2000 because they conspired with the Supreme Court which selected the fascist illiterate moron George W. Bush in preference to Albert Gore, Jr., an erudite Alpha male who dressed in earth tones.

No, that couldn't be right, either. The Supremes would have had no role in the election if Mr. Gore had won his home state of Tennessee.

Well, never mind 2000; focus on the Democrats' loss of the midterm elections in 2002. How did that happen?

Well, it nusta been a failure to communicate their message. Or rather, the Democratic message of peace and prosperity was drowned out by Talk Radio, particularly Rush Limbaugh. And Fox News channel.

According to the cerebral Mr. Gore, something would start at the Republican National Committee, be picked up by the Washington Times and The Weekly Standard and spread around the country. Republican misinformation would thus "be woven into the fabric of the zeitgest."

Well, yes, round up the usual suspects and blame the zeitgeist, (the spirit of the time). Don't, for pity's sake, blame your message and your inability to persuade people of its cogency.

For 2004, all previous explanations were deemed inoperative.

It couldn't have been the Supremes—they weren't involved—and the messages, such as they were, got out loud and clear, propelled by tons of money and aided by a partisan mainstream press. Indeed, Evan Thomas, Jr., assistant managing editor of Newsweek, calculated back in July of this year that the MSM tilted left so as to add about 15 percentage points to the Massachusettarian candidate's popular vote.

Since Evan Thomas is a grandson of Norman Thomas, who ran for President on the Socialist Party ticket six times ,(1928, 1932, 1936, 1940, 1944, 1948) even if you were a Martian tourist and couldn't figure it out for yourself, you would know he's telling the truth about MSM partisanship.

Next up to the plate, this explanation for the Republican victory: Bible thumping, morals valuing Evangelicals done the deed. Alas, this explanation exposes the hostility of the left to white Christians and to those who, while not active church-goers themselves, nor perhaps even Christians, have a certain respect for those who are. It also belies the common Blue charge that Christian faithful are ipso facto irrational, bonkers, that is. But, surely, even professors of sociology realize it's perfectly rational to not vote for them as despise you.

Following the dictum of Sherlock Holmes—when all likely explanations are ruled out, any remaining possibility, however unlikely, must be correct—the Blue sages, self-proclaimed Progressive intellectuals have declared Conservatives wherever situate but particularly those sojourning in Red states are incorrigibly stupid and/or deluded by a vast right wing conspiracy. Their reasoning is impeccable, irrefutable, and self-evident: We voted Republican.

But this is undiluted foolishness, goofy, laughable though unfunny. The truth is: the Democrats, having trashed the term "Liberal" and now calling themselves "Progressive," are timid and reactionary, clasping to their bosom preposterous notions decked out in ludicrous PC flummery. They cling desperately to floating shreds of Marxist dogma. They are fearful of change and utterly unable to face the fact of their own moral and intellectual bankruptcy. It is this that accounts for their insufferable hauteur, their loony assertion of intellectual superiority when it is clear they are bereft even of ordinary common sense. And it also accounts for their dwindling electoral base.

Yes, look no further. This is why they lose elections.
