ZOT II: A Question of Morality?

I ask this question without a flinch: Why are such issues as pornography, gay marriage, and other moral issues something government should regulate? One of my beliefs is that a person should be free to do want they want so long as they do not inhibit another person's freedom. This is a good rule of thumb, but it does mean some people are going to say or do things I would not personally do or do not personally agree with. A popular issue today is gay marriage. Although I would not personally engage in homosexual practices, I am obligated to supports gays' right to do this because otherwise they would have a valid reason to prohibit something I do. Additionally, state-sanctioned marriage gives gay couples more happiness without upsetting anything more than some conservative consciences.
My question amounts to why should we prohibit such social issues?

You should be more concerned with FR policy.
You're not a good fit.

I must have missed this one: RKBA. Is there a thread that can explain the meaning of this?

MISSION STATEMENT:
When he first posts, he's a Troll.
The Kitties come along and stune him with their lightning and WMD. Then he's a "stuned beeber".
Once he's good and stuned, then the RKBA comes along and turns him into roadkill beeber by beating the thread beyond all recognition, topic, point, reason, etc.. (after the formulation by the wizard timpad)
fun gif: http://home1.gte.net/res0qiwd/pics/atomicannie.gif
Da RULEZ of ENGAGEMENT:
The RKBA shall FUBAR a Troll only on such Threads as meet the following criteria:
1. Started by a Troll, or...
2. Hijacked by Trollery, to the extent that...
3. The VKS has had their innings, and...
4. An Official "He's DEAD, Jim!" has been issued, AND...
5. The Almighty Mods have seen fit to rename the Thread with some variation of "ZOT!" in the title
