John Kerry's Magic Cellphone [Kerry Heard From Reeve On Saturday. Reeve Went Into Coma Thursday.]

It's sort of like his lucky CIA hat...

SANTA FE, United States (AFP) - Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry hailed Christopher Reeve as "America's hero" and vowed to drive on the dead Superman actor's crusade for stem-cell research.

...Kerry said the last time he heard from Reeve was on Saturday, when the actor left a message on his cellphone, enthused by the Massachusetts senator's decision to raise stem-cell research in Friday's second presidential debate.

Oh really? WHO TV (Des Moines) October 11th, 2004 - According to sources close to the actor, Reeve died Sunday. The actor fell into a coma on Thursday after going into cardiac arrest at his New York home. It's true - Kerry will say ANYTHING to get elected...

Update: WHO Des Moines appears to be the only one reporting he went into a coma on Thursday. ABC, CNN, and others are reporting that he had a heart attack at his Pound Ridge, New York, home on Saturday during treatment for an infected bedsore wound. He fell into a coma and never regained consciousness. CNN puts it this way:

Kerry's cellphone is a little less magical, now it's just a bit suspect...

I find it incredible that someone in Reeve condition, (infection) being treated with I'V's and on the verge of a heart attack is calling a political hack talking about a debate.

"The wound had become severely infected...Reeve was admitted to Northern Westchester Hospital on Saturday evening and never regained consciousness," the statement said on Monday.

I suppose it's possible that Kerry rec'd a call from Reeves .. but from what I can tell of reading about systemic infections .. Mr. Reeves was most likely in no shape to be making cell phone calls to anyone

Thursday may be in play, but there needs to be some serious, hard core, indisputable proof on this matter before FReepers and others run off to the media with phone calls, emails, letters to the editor, etc... on this.

At best, the "Kerry compatible" version has Reeve yakking on the phone on the same day he had severe bedsores, a heart attack, and a coma.

Is it more plausible he went from spending his remaining minutes of alertness on leaving Kerry a puffy phone message, or do you think he was more focused on, say, taking his next breath, if he was conscious at all.

Speaking of which, it is very difficult to speak while a machine is breathing for you, even if you are otherwise doing fine, which, evidently, he wasn't.

The reports are also not exactly specific - one might say they are Clintonian - about when Reeve lost consciousness.

He's a pathological liar, maybe on his way to surpassing Klintoon's record.

All is true. But to be able to go out and flatly accuse Kerry of talking about a phone call that never took place, rock solid evidence that it could not have taken place is needed. Even a minimum opening of "it could have happened" is enough for the MSM and kool aide drinkers to dismiss the charges.

Also, Kerry should be asked if he saved or deleted the message, and if saved, to play it. Though he would easily say it was a private phone call and being that the person who left the message is now deceased, it wouldnt be proper to play the message for all to hear.

Coupled with his ability to magically bestow small businesses on people, does this qualify him as a "super hero" (as long as it's used loosely)

Reeve recently had been treated for a pressure wound, a common complication of paralysis, his publicist, Wesley Combs said. But the wound became infected and led to a systemic infection. He was admitted to Northern Westchester Hospital near his New York home on Saturday evening and never regained consciousness.

news-record.com

Seems to be a few accounts of Reeve's timeline last week.

Yes I know .. but considering this infection (which all news accounts agree) is what lead to his cardiac arrest and coma on Saturday evening .. there is a very strong possibility that he was extremely ill prior to Saturday morning when Kerry claimed to have rec'd a call from Mr. Reeves

Maybe a Freeper who has some medical background can explain better then I can about how serious an infection like this is and how ill it makes a person

(IMO) Kerry should have just said something nice and respectful about Mr. Reeves

But instead .. he once again embellished a story by saying Reeves call him

The debate finished at 1030 pm EST. Reeve's window of opportunity to call Kerry was between then and whenever he had his heart attack and was admitted to the hospital. According to the AP obit:

Reeve fell into a coma Saturday after going into cardiac arrest while at his New York home, his publicist, Wesley Combs, told The Associated Press by phone from Washington, D.C., on Sunday night.

Reeve was being treated at Northern Westchester Hospital for a pressure wound that he developed, a common complication for people living with paralysis. In the past week, the wound had become severely infected, resulting in a serious systemic infection.

Another thing to consider is that Kerry said he heard the message on Saturday on his cell phone. That doesn't mean Reeve left the message Saturday.

Doesn't Kerry state that Reeve's message was "enthusiastic"?

Drudge broke Reeves died story on his radio show. He has an inside source. If this story is true, he has the resources to know and would not be shy about breaking it. So far nothing on Drudge. I have to think it is not true.

I've read about ten accounts and they all say that Reeve's heart attack happened on Saturday.

True, but the earliest the message could have been left would have been Friday night as Kerry says the message was in regardes to Friday nights debate.

So, regardless of when the call was made (Friday or Saturday), if Reeve was incapacitated starting on Thursday, the call could not have taken place.

The media won't even question him on his anti war days .. they sure aren't going to ask him about this cell phone call

No because all we know for sure is that Kerry said he heard the message on Saturday, not that Reeve left it on Saturday. Also bedsores were probably a recurring problem for Reeve so he may not have been alarmed by them before having his heart attack.

I do believe it was Nancy Reagan who had conversations with the dead.

I didn't know that. What if we each check back in here, about Noon (EDT), with our proofs.

I have to go to the doctor's office and also make a quick visit to my elderly mother. But I think I can be back by then, or shortly thereafter, with my citations.

See You then?

Yes it does because Kerry mentions Reeves thanking him for the support in Friday night's debate. Here's the quote: "...Kerry said the last time he heard from Reeve was on Saturday, when the actor left a message on his cellphone, enthused by the Massachusetts senator's decision to raise stem-cell research in Friday's second presidential debate".
