SANTA FE, United States (AFP) - Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry hailed Christopher Reeve as "America's hero" and vowed to drive on the dead Superman actor's crusade for stem-cell research.
...Kerry said the last time he heard from Reeve was on Saturday, when the actor left a message on his cellphone, enthused by the Massachusetts senator's decision to raise stem-cell research in Friday's second presidential debate.
Oh really? WHO TV (Des Moines) October 11th, 2004 - According to sources close to the actor, Reeve died Sunday. The actor fell into a coma on Thursday after going into cardiac arrest at his New York home. It's true - Kerry will say ANYTHING to get elected...
Update: WHO Des Moines appears to be the only one reporting he went into a coma on Thursday. ABC, CNN, and others are reporting that he had a heart attack at his Pound Ridge, New York, home on Saturday during treatment for an infected bedsore wound. He fell into a coma and never regained consciousness. CNN puts it this way:

IMO, Reeve's did not have the magnitude of stardom that all of the specials and tributes seem to imply. Maybe I'm out of the loop.
My comment is not concerning what Reeve deserves, but about what the MSM seems to be exploiting for political purposes.
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Paralysed film actor Christopher Reeve, who played Superman, has died of heart failure, a spokesman says.
Reeve publicist Wesley Combs told reporters the American actor, 52, died in a New York hospital on Sunday.
He said in a statement Reeve went into a coma on Saturday after suffering a heart attack at his home during treatment for a pressure wound.
"The wound had become severely infected...Reeve was admitted to Northern Westchester Hospital on Saturday evening and never regained consciousness," the statement said on Monday.
Reeve has been confined to a wheelchair after suffering multiple injuries, including two shattered neck vertebrae, when he was thrown from his horse at an equestrian event in 1995.

Reuters is so suspect that I feel they are an unreliable source. After all, these are the folks that call terrorists who behead people militants.
Someone with an infection so bad to cause a coma and heart attack isn't going to be up to dishing out campaign slogans. Even if he were lucid or strong enough and not being pumped with medication, it would be his wife or caretaker who would be dialing and leaving a message if not making an actual person to person contact before holding the phone for Reeve or getting him to the speaker phone.
Let's stay on this story because if CNN put this out it's big.

Ah, so now it's a "long" message. Wow, Reeve really was Superman. To leave a long message when it's difficult for him to talk when he's healthy.

There was a report quoted that he did not regain consciouness after being taken to the hospital. Thursday is very much in play.

Moi Kerri loaned his cell phone to General Wesley Clark, who sent it back in time with his time traveling machine.
Once the phone was back in time when CR was still alive and alert, it dialed CR and asked him to call back supporting Kerry. So CR did.
Then, Clark's magical time traveling machine brought Kerry's cell phone back to the future or is it the present with CR's message on it.

Two of the three Thursday results refer to an action by the House of Reps. The other refers to a high school football game. Looks like Reeve fell into the coma on Saturday.
Agree. We need the MSM to get to the bottom of this, but I am not holding my breath.
Thursday may be in play, but there needs to be some serious, hard core, indisputable proof on this matter before FReepers and others run off to the media with phone calls, emails, letters to the editor, etc... on this.
The one I read doesn't say what day he fell into a coma. Did they change it?
I'm surprised he hasn't already sued the HORSE.
