That sailor is one of the finest young Americans I have seen. Confident, committed and KNOWING what it means to SERVE his nation, family and friends.
You have been so lucky to have such a great dad R.
I bet you are a lot like him.
And much of him, you can pass on to kids and grandkids... as well as your friends. Thanks for sharing your dad, with us, in some small measure.
God Bless you and give you peace...

I'm sorry, Race. I have some idea of how you feel right now. Lost my WWII vet dad back in '88. I bawled like a baby. It is a very, very hard thing. I will pray for your family.

Race...my prayers, sympathy and empathy are with you.
Having lost my own dear father in January (who was also a WW II Navy vet) and having lost my brother in July, I know what you are going through.
God rest the souls of your father...his pain, toil and sorrow in this life are over and he is in a far better place now.
God bless, comfort and keep you and your loved ones...and all of those who knew and loved your father and will miss him. May you all be united and comforted in the sure knowledge of an eventual reunion, and a glorious resurrection, in the good Lord's own time.

I am so sorry. Besides my two children, my daddy was my best friend in the world. He always believed in me, and loved me unconditionally. I lost him to lung cancer on May 25th.
My heart goes out to you. I know there are no words to ease the pain, but just know he is in a better place.
