Our President has had a tough time of late. But, despite some misgivings on domestic issues, I remain a huge supporter of President Bush. I believe that he is a good man in the true sense of the word and that he understands the peril our nation finds itself. Immediately after 9/11, I believe that President Bush gathered key members of his cabinet along with his closest advisors and determined that the threat of a catastrophic repeat of 9/11 (or worse) was a clear and present danger.
Accordingly, we learned of the Bush Doctrine - that not only would we destroy the terrorist networks, but we would also destroy nations and regimes that support those networks. Hence, we saw dramatically bold leadership that took us to Afghanistan and then Iraq, despite the cries of the left, the U.N. and many so-called allies. We have seen the capitulation of Libya on WMD's and the upheavals in Iran - due in no small part to this doctrine. Undoubtedly, we have had a multitude of successes across the globe that never get reported - militarily with special ops forces and diplomatically using "back channels". These are good things.
But now, we are seeing the effects of a sinister undertow happening. The sheer weight of leftist carping, world criticisms and (especially) media "witch hunting" are beginning to weigh on President Bush. The insidious blatherings of these elitists and pseudo-intellectuals have forced this administration to measure its words and to be cautious. Perhaps unknowingly, but cautious nonetheless. Today, we have the spasmic bout of apologies for the so-called failings of the U.S. In my view, this must stop - at least in its present form.
These apologies accomplish nothing and embolden the enemies - the left, the mainstream media and the terrorists. Once these co-conspirators sense that they have the administration on their heels, they will continue to push. This is in evidence with the 9/11 Commission, the Abu Ghraib affair, the call for Secretary Rumsfeld's resignation, the Kennedy litanies, the Kerry criticisms and the plethora of Michael Moore type books being published just in time for the election cycle. (Meanwhile, Queen Hillary is watching and plotting). And, we can only expect the leftist rhetoric to ratchet up markedly in the weeks and months ahead. So, what to do?
In my view, it is time for blunt and direct leadership once more. If the President must apologize to the king of Jordan for diplomatic reasons, fine. If there is a sense to admit shortcomings and failings in the press, that too may be fine. But circumstances demand that such comments be followed by an implacably strong message. That is, that we will not rest until terrorist networks are destroyed and the terrorist killed. We must state that this great nation, despite its imperfections, is determined to see liberty flourish in the world. The message must be clear - we will use all means at our disposal to ensure the security of the US - including our military, our financial might, our allies and partners. This President must not be ambiguous or timid or wavering.
And, the terrorist will hear this message. The despot will hear this message. But most important, the American people will hear this message - at least those who are paying attention will. And they will show up at the polls in November. I firmly believe that the outcome of the fall election will be determined by how welland how confident this message is delivered - even if there are more setbacks. With a strong unblinking message, George W. Bush will win another term, and likely carry the day with congressional elections.
As for the leftwing pseudo-intellectual liberal elitist - they will continue their blatherings. But, with enough time and a full measure of leadership, they too can be muted to nothing more than an annoyance.

So, what to do?For starters, I am sending emails expressing my SUPPORT for Rumsfeld to an email someone gave me today. Resign ?? NO WAY, Jose !! Keep up the good work, will be MY message to Rumsfeld.
The same email to be sent to President Bush and V.P. Cheney, also expressing my support for them as well.
My 2 cents.
If anyone wants the email address I have for Rumsfeld, let me know and I will send via Freep mail.
For some reason, I was told it was deleted from a thread ?? It's a good addy to someone at the Office of the Secretary of Defense.
My support email to Donald Rumsfeld, with copies to President Bush and VP Cheney:
Subject: I Support Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld !
My Dear Sir:
In light of the developments in the news here lately and SOD Donald Rumsfeld's testimony on Capitol Hill today, I felt compelled to send this note to you. It is my hope that you will convey my note of support to him.
When President Bush was elected in 2000 (I voted for him, by the way), I was ELATED to hear later that Donald Rumsfeld was picked as Secretary of Defense. I recalled him from his prior service and felt CONFIDENT that we had the right man at the top of the Defense Department.
I encourage Secretary Rumsfeld to STAY THE COURSE and to keep up the great job he is doing.
I am not one to usually take an activist stance except in times that I feel STRONGLY about an issue. This is one of those times.
I EMPLORE Mr. Rumsfeld to hang in there. We NEED strong leadership like his at such an important position. I would be very disappointed to lose such a great leader, great human at this time in history!
I want to make this short, but one LAST thing. I am a member of FreeRepublic.com and wanted to pass along a link to an article of SUPPORT for Donald Rumsfeld that was posted today to show that there are MANY on my #1 newslink that feel the same way. The link is at the BOTTOM of this email.
Sincerely,
[MeekOneGOP]

Official Free Republic "I Love Rummy Thread":
Donald Rumsfeld Appreciation Thread, May 7, 2004
See my post #5 .....
Some, maybe even most see the Presidents action as brave and indicative of the best of America, I dont I see it as self indulgent and selfish. The courageous thing to do would have been to stand and take the heat defending the nations and the troops honor.
bump !
This "problem" all started when the "Politically Correct" Pentagon Brass got all embarrassed and "apologetic" when one of our troops erected "Old Glory" at one of the first sites secured in the "Ground War!" Thus we've gotten "Insurgents" and Saddam's Holdovers who never have understood that they got their Suni asses handed to them and there was no finality to it!!!
Now these pontificating pissants in the supersillyous senate need their asses handed to them with a high degree of finality!!! Especially McLamebrane!!! If ANYBODY should know better... It's him!!! Even Lieberman gets it better than that turd in a punchbowl, McCain!!!
Send all your emails to that braying jackass in an elephant suit... Puleeeeeeese!!! Talk about an "enemy within" the Repellican Party... WOW!!!
