Introducing the thread that everyone has been waiting for: The Daily Dumbest things said on DU. And you get to participate. What do you have to do? Equip the barf bags and head to the bane of the internet- The Democratic Underground. Once there, find any quote that is revealing, silly, or just downright stupid. The context of this quote is that it is the answer to a question asking DUers who they knew who were "unlikely Republicans". I thought it was revealing...

I don't go to DU, but I know someone who probably should. Can I just post what he writes in his livejournal? This guy has to make a swipe at the Bush Administration daily. Whether it's because he doesn't have enough ambition to get a different job or because he didn't get a child tax credit (he has no children). Recently he wrote that if the "smart one with the most votes" had gotten into office there would be no war. Of course not. We'd be playing French about now.

Kathleen04: it's a thing where you can post whatever you want and people can comment on it. Sorta like a discussion board but whoever's blog it is posts are the main focus and others just comment whatever they wrote.

I was in a Dem chat room just a couple days ago, and that was the Dem/liberal spin: All 600 iraqis killed were innocent civilians merely defending their homes from our troops.

When I spoke up, asking about those four contractors who were murdered and their bodies strung up on a bridge, whom were they attacking? What were the insurgents defending themselves against those people? They were bringing food.

They all got on my case: "They were mercenaries!" "How many people do you know earn 30 thousand a month bringing food?" "Bush started it!!!" "Bush started it!!!"

Secondly they HAVE THE CHOICE TO NOT BE THERE. They are NOT slaves. They HAVE the choice to leave. They CANNOT BE FORCED to kill someone, they CAN choose conscientious objector status. If that means prison, so be it. It's better than MURDERING people.

It's called having the courage to do the right thing, the courage of your convictions. It takes more of a backbone to resist than to comply.

These people can walk out of that hellhole anytime they want, and get on a plane and leave. They aren't chained. They aren't imprisoned, they aren't shackled.

They CHOOSE to kill, murder and destroy.
